India added another medal to its growing tally at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya as long-distance runner Gulveer Singh won silver in the men’s 10,000m final on Friday, September 25.
Gulveer produced a strong performance in the long-distance race to finish second and add another major medal to his growing international record. His silver helped India’s overall medal tally reach 22 medals at the Asian Games.
Gulveer Singh Claims 10,000m Silver
Gulveer made it to the 10,000m final after a good run in 2026. The Indian distance runner was among the key medal contenders in athletics and delivered on the big stage.
The 10,000m is one of the most demanding track events, requiring athletes to combine endurance, pacing and a strong finishing kick.
Gulveer stayed competitive throughout the race before taking the silver medal at the end.
Another major medal for Indian Athletics
The silver adds to Gulveer's impressive medal collection. Earlier this year, he won silver in the men's 10,000m at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, becoming the first Indian man to win a Commonwealth Games medal in the event. He clocked 27:49.78 seconds in that race.
Gulveer also won bronze in the 5,000m at the Commonwealth Games.
At the Asian Games, he had already won a bronze medal in the men’s 10,000m at the 2022 edition in Hangzhou. His latest silver therefore adds another Asian Games medal to his record.

India's Medal Tally Reaches 22
Gulveer's silver comes as India continues its medal-winning campaign in Aichi-Nagoya.
Earlier on September 25, India had reached 19 medals after winning two medals in shooting. Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh won gold in the 10m air pistol mixed team event, while Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Rudrankksh Patil and Niraj Kumar won silver in the men's 50m rifle 3 positions team event.
Gulveer’s silver then took India’s overall tally to 22 medals.
Gulveer Continues His Rise
The 28-year-old has become one of India's leading long-distance runners. He holds national records across several distances and has established himself as a major name in Indian athletics.
His Commonwealth Games silver earlier this year had already created history. Now, another silver at the Asian Games further strengthens his record on the international stage.
