England captain Harry Kane has signed a contract extension with Bayern Munich that will keep him at the German club until June 30, 2029. After an outstanding spell in Germany and his Ballon d’Or win just weeks earlier, he announced on Thursday that he had agreed to extend his stay with Bayern.
The 33-year old striker has scored 156 goals in 161 competitive appearances for Bayern since joining the club from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023. He has made him one of the most influential players in European football.
Bayern released an official statement confirming the deal so speculation over Kane’s long term future was put to rest.
Harry Kane Commits Future to Bayern Munich
Kane’s previous contract was coming to an end so the extension was a positive development for Bayern’s plans for the future.
The England international said he was happy to continue on his journey with the Bundesliga champions. He also spoke about how close he is to the club, fans and city of Munich.
Kane said he felt at home at Bayern and praised the quality of the team as well as manager Vincent Kompany. Kane also said his family were happy in Munich and wanted to win more trophies with the club.
The deal shows Bayern are confident Kane can remain central to their sporting plans over the coming seasons.
156 Goals in 161 Appearances for Bayern
Since arriving from Tottenham in the summer of 2023 Kane has put up some remarkable numbers in front of goal.
He has scored 156 goals in 161 games for Bayern (domestic and European competitions combined). Consistency at the club has seen him win two Bundesliga titles, German Cup and two Franz Beckenbauer Supercups while he was there.
Kane has also been the Bundesliga’s top scorer in each of his first three seasons in Germany.
His ability to score from different positions, create opportunities for teammates and contribute attacking combinations has made him an important part of Kompany’s system.
Ballon d'Or Triumph Adds to Historic Career
Kane’s new deal comes just months after he won the Ballon d’Or 2026 award.
It was the first English footballer since Michael Owen in 2001 to achieve the honour and a significant individual achievement for a player who spent much of his career chasing major team and individual recognition.
His performances for Bayern and England got him to the top of world football.
Kane also won the European Golden Shoe twice for his goalscoring exploits in European domestic leagues.

Bayern Munich Delighted to Retain England Captain
Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen welcomed the extension: “It’s good news for the club, supporters and Bundesliga.”
He talked about Kane’s goalscoring ability, on the pitch impact and role model status.
Sporting director Christoph Freund was also happy as well saying Kane is a team player and leader.
The club did not reveal the financial terms of the new deal. German media reports suggested that the extension could be the most expensive contract in Bayern’s history.
Premier League Return Speculation Ends for Now
Before signing the extension Kane had been linked with a possible return to English football.
The striker is still in the frame for all-time Premier League goalscoring record holder Alan Shearer’s (260) tally — Kane scored 213 Premier League goals for Tottenham.
However his decision to extend his Bayern contract suggests that winning more trophies in Germany is still his immediate priority.
Kane’s future is now until 2029 so Bayern Munich will hope he continues his goalscoring form and helps them achieve domestic and European success again.
