India defeated West Indies by 14 runs in the third T20I at Holkar Stadium in Indore on 11th October 2026. Abhishek Sharma's aggressive batting and Arshdeep Singh's important wickets helped India win a high-scoring match and take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.
India scored 223 runs before restricting West Indies to 209/7 in 20 overs. India won the series, but the match also showed the areas the team will have to improve in the next match.
Abhishek Sharma leads India’s strong start.
India lost Sanju Samson early after he scored only three runs. But Abhishek Sharma quickly changed the momentum with an attacking innings of 69 runs from 30 balls, including six fours and five sixes.
Ishan Kishan supported him with 37 runs from 18 balls. Their aggressive batting helped India reach 115 runs in just 8.2 overs.
India looked to have a much bigger total, but West Indies fought back through Roston Chase and the other bowlers. India lost wickets in the middle overs and couldn't maintain the same scoring rate.
Tilak Varma scored 28 runs, while Nitish Kumar Reddy and Axar Patel contributed 21 and 20 runs respectively. India was bowled out for 223.
Arshdeep Singh and Naman Dhir turn the match.
West Indies needed a strong start to chase the target, but Arshdeep Singh dismissed Shai Hope for five runs.
Shimron Hetmyer and Kamil Pooran then counterattacked and added 60 runs for the second wicket. Hetmyer scored 43 from 26 balls and Pooran made 42 from 27 deliveries.
India needed wickets at that stage, and Naman Dhir delivered by removing both set batters. His two wickets helped India regain control of the match.
Arshdeep later produced another important spell and finished with figures of 3/44. Naman Dhir claimed 2/39, providing valuable support.
West Indies continued to fight until the final overs. Shamar Springer scored an unbeaten 35 from 11 balls but the visitors finished on 209/7, falling 14 runs short.
Arshdeep Singh was named the player of the match for his bowling performance.

What went wrong for West Indies?
West Indies showed their batting strength but lost important wickets when they needed to form partnerships. Hope’s early dismissal put pressure on the middle order, and the dismissals of Hetmyer and Pooran slowed their chase.
Their bowlers also allowed India to score quickly during the opening overs. Better ball handling and more partnerships in the chase will be important in the next match.
What can we expect in the 4th T20I?
The fourth T20I will take place in Hyderabad on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. India will attempt to win again and win the series while West Indies will aim to level the match at 2-2.
India’s batting is still dangerous, particularly when Abhishek Sharma finds his rhythm. But the middle order has to avoid another collapse after a good start.
The Indian bowling attack will also need to keep discipline during the death overs, especially against West Indies' powerful hitters.
West Indies can still challenge India if their top order delivers and their bowlers take early wickets. The series is still competitive with two games left and the fourth T20I will determine its trajectory.
