India was able to perform well at the World Archery Para Series Stage III and finished with 15 medals including four gold, three silver and eight bronze medals. In the medal list, India is second.
The Czech Republic won five gold medals and China two gold, six silver and five bronze. The competition concluded yesterday and provided India’s para archers with valuable international exposure in preparation for the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games which will be held from October 18 to October 24.
Harvinder Singh Leads India’s Gold Charge
Harvinder Singh played a key role in India’s gold-medal winning success as Paralympic champion. He teamed up with Vijay Sundi to win the para recurve men’s doubles title, in another prestigious accomplishment in his decorated career.
Harvinder returned to the podium on the final day and teamed with Bhawna to win the para recurve mixed team event. His performance underlined his importance to India's para archery campaign.
Harvinder has already made history as India's first Paralympic archer to win a gold medal, while also winning a bronze at the Paralympic Games.
Sheetal Devi Adds Another Gold
World champion and Paris Paralympic bronze medallist Sheetal Devi completed India's gold medal tally by winning the para compound women's individual title.
Her success further demonstrates the depth of India's para compound archery program. Sarita also finished on the podium in the same event and won a bronze medal.
The third Indian gold came from Shyam Sunder Swami and Toman Kumar who won the para compound men's doubles competition together.
Three Silver Medals for India
The three silver medals of India were in different categories. Bhawna and Pooja won silver in para recurve women's doubles while Tanvi Ingale was second in the visually impaired category.
Swati Chaudhary and Adil Mohammed Nazir Ansari also won silver in the W1 mixed team event, adding to India’s strong performance in different disciplines.
Eight Bronze Medals Complete the Haul
India's eight bronze medals were evidence of national strength. Yugal Garg won bronze in the visually impaired category, while Swati Chaudhary finished third in the W1 women's individual event.
Sheetal Devi and Toman Kumar won bronze in the para compound mixed team event. Toman also secured bronze in the men's individual competition, while Bhawna added another bronze in the para recurve women's individual event.
Swati and Vasundhara Teotia won bronze in the W1 women's doubles while Adil Mohammed Nazir Ansari and Vinayak Breed won bronze in the W1 men's doubles.
Important Test Prior to Asian Para Games
The 15-medal tally gives India a lot of momentum going into the 2026 Asian Para Games. The performance of established champions like Harvinder Singh and Sheetal Devi, together with good performances by other Indian archers, gives India hope in Aichi-Nagoya.
The W1 discipline includes athletes with severe impairments in both the upper and lower limbs as well as the torso, which makes India's performance in this category so great.
With four gold, three silver and eight bronze medals, India finished the tournament as one of the leading para archery nations and gained valuable competitive experience ahead of the big continental event.
