Lalit Modi has made a clarification after being misidentified in media reports concerning a property dispute in Delhi’s Vasant Vihar. Modi said he does not have any connection to the individual involved in the legal battle and asked media organisations, search engines, and databases to correct what he called an identity mix-up.
The dispute is about a property at 32 Pashchimi Marg in Vasant Vihar and involves BDR Builders & Developers Pvt. Ltd. and an individual named Lalit Modi. According to Modi on X, the person involved in the court proceedings is Lalit Modi, son of J.R. Modi, and lives at Vasant Vihar.
Lalit Modi, who is known as Lalit Kumar Modi and the founder of IPL, claimed that news about the property and arbitration case had inaccurately associated his picture, biography, and personal identity with the proceedings. The similarities in names had caused confusion, and the two people should not be considered as the same person, he added.

Modi also called on media organisations and online information platforms to rectify the alleged error. He said that publications, search platforms, and databases carrying the incorrect information should update their records so that the identity of the person involved in the litigation is not confused with the former IPL chairman.
The former IPL chief explained his objection by saying the two people are different: “Same name. Different person. Get the facts right.” He said people are at risk when they put the wrong picture or biography on the legal agenda, especially when a person involved has a name similar to a prominent figure.
The property dispute is, in fact, related to the purchase of the Vasant Vihar property and the arbitration process of BDR Builders & Developers Pvt. Ltd. The legal matter attracted attention after the name Lalit Modi appeared in connection with the matter. Modi’s clarification, for his part, seeks to separate his identity from the name used by the company in the arbitration process.
