Pakistan’s Olympic champion and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Arshad Nadeem suffered a major setback at the Commonwealth Games 2026 after he was eliminated during the men’s javelin throw final.
Nadeem had qualified for the final and entered the competition as one of the top contenders for a medal. Although the Pakistani star could throw well enough, he was unable to remain in the mix in the final stages.

His Olympic gold medal, Commonwealth Games title and major international contributions have increased the profile of javelin in Pakistan. He has also inspired a whole new generation of athletes and is still one of Pakistan’s biggest sports figures.
A bad result in one competition does not erase his previous accomplishments. But the early elimination will raise questions about his present form and preparations ahead of future international events.
Nadeem will now have to review his performance and work to get back to his top level. His supporters can hope the CWG result is just a short-term jolt rather than a sign of a sustained decline.
