Arsenal produced a spirited performance to secure a 2-1 win at Chelsea in a high-pressure Premier League London derby on Sunday for both sides. Arsenal had a lot of possession and several chances in the first half were created. Chelsea were also dangerous on the counterattack and had their own chances to take the lead. Rogers had an attempt that hit the woodwork and Pedro Neto went close too. Despite the attacking ability of both sides, there was only 1-1 at the half-time break.
The second half began with Arsenal more urgent than the first half and their pressure was finally the decisive moment. Martin Odegaard put Arsenal ahead in the 50th minute after latching onto a pass from Christos Tzolis. The Arsenal captain had the presence of mind to deliver a finish that turned up the game in the box.
Chelsea tried to respond and did create some concern for the Arsenal defence but the home side was determined to protect their advantage. Arsenal also had chances to go on to extend the lead and Bukayo Saka and Ezri Konsa both were denied by the veteran goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez. The visitors continued to fight until the final whistle, ensuring that the contest remained tense until the closing stages.
One of Chelsea’s best chances came in the 89th minute when Estevao made a spectacular curling effort. Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya was called into action and made a brilliant save to keep the narrow lead of his side. Arsenal had to keep on winning and got a good win in front of their fans.
After the match, manager Mikel Arteta pointed out that the performance of the team still needed to improve despite the victory. He described the display as exceptional and said the team's determination, quality, and reaction during difficult moments were particularly pleasing.
Arteta also stated that there is still room for Arsenal to grow and they should be humble and hungry during the season. The team will always try to find the best-fit version of itself and that is what we want to do so, he said.
Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso expressed disappointment after his side suffered its first defeat. He said Chelsea had wanted to compete and win at the Emirates but acknowledged that Arsenal had taken advantage of their opportunities.

Alonso said his team needs to be tighter, more clinical, and more balanced as the season progresses. Despite the disappointment, he praised the spirit and attitude of his players and said that the team was still in a new phase and must continue learning from difficult matches.
The result brings Arsenal an early advantage in the Premier League title race and Chelsea will be quick to respond from their first defeat.
