Rahul Chahar Opens Up About Divorce from Ishani Johar

In a very personal statement that has shaken up the cricketing world, Indian leg-spinner Rahul Chahar has declared the official dissolution of his marriage to Ishani Johar. The 26-year-old posted on social media on Friday, February 20 that he had wrapped up a 15-month legal process, putting an end to a saga that started with a glamorous destination wedding in Goa in March 2022.

A Chapter Not of Regret, But Clarity

Chahar was particularly raw and introspective in his post. Looking back on deciding to marry at just 22 years old, he acknowledged that he joined the union before discovering his full needs, before he understood his own self-worth. “I don’t end this chapter feeling angry or sorry; I finish it with clarity,” wrote Chahar. “Some relationships are not meant to last forever; they are intended to wake us up, educate us, teach us, and change us.”

He said his past 15 months in the courtroom represent a period of tremendous growth, instilling him with patience and resilience, as well as the “strength that comes from truth.”

The Road to Resolution

The couple, teenage sweethearts, were engaged in 2019 and appeared regularly at IPL stands; Ishani, a fashion designer, would get behind Rahul during his stints with Mumbai Indians or Punjab Kings. Chahar, however, said that this legal resolution “costed a lot,” bringing a definitive finality to this phase of his life. He told that his future was built not on an ending but was "a release and a reset."

Focus Shifts to IPL 2026

The news comes at a critical juncture in Chahar's professional career. After a lull in domestic and international cricket for some time, the leg-spinner was signed recently for ₹5.20 crore by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2026 mini-auction. Having settled his personal affairs, the 26-year-old seems ready to turn the page. Words of encouragement from fans and peers litter his social media. They are all expressing themselves in a plea for him to be strong ahead of the next T20 season with the Yellow Army.
