RCB Announces New Safety Measures: 300 AI Cameras, SOPs, Tribute to Victims

Royal Challengers Bengaluru have also made various safety and operation changes ahead of the upcoming season on account of their tragic stampede incident of last November 2022. CEO Rajesh Menon said that the entire team and KSCA are committed to fan safety in general throughout the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Menon said “all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) required by the Karnataka High Court [are still followed by Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, Home Minister, and police officers of the state].“ So the law enforcement mechanisms as well as the Royal Corporation of BCA (RCB) are closely aligned.

Enhanced Security Measures

One big step is to install 300 AI-activated CCTV cameras in the stadium and about it. These systems will allow for day-to-day monitoring and crowd control. And two huge CCTV tracking centers are set up inside the stadium but will be monitored from the Police Commissioner’s office.

KSCA is responsible for barricades in and outside of the stadium to improve crowd control and that includes better training plans for police and emergency protocols are in place and all safety notifications from police have been put in place in place, said the U.S. government.

New Guidelines for Fans

That will also help in controlling congestion and will help make transport easier and transport is better for ticket holders to leave. People purchasing tickets will be enabled to use metro trains (unlike driver) rather than private areas once it begins in the stadium and the match starts in advance. Parking spaces will also be planned for these days.

Change in Events & Traditions

In a radical change the popular RCB “Unbox” event will not be held in Bengaluru now because it is for crowd management.

At the same time the team paid tribute to the victims of last year's stampede in which 11 people died. 11 seats at RCB will be empty during every match in the stadium, in order to pay tribute. And all players will wear jersey number 11 during practice and at the start of every match to remember one another.

Responsibility and Safety

RCB insists at present that fan safety is the top priority. In recent times what has brought in such a new model has been security failures, monitoring SOP protocols and ensuring cooperation with everyone in football to achieve that; so this should set a new benchmark for stadium safety and event management in any sports and entertainment environment.

These measures will ensure RCB guarantees fans have a safe and enjoyable matchday and it honors them lost in the process.
