Real Madrid won a thriller El Clásico against Barcelona on 25 October 2026 2–1 at Spotify Camp Nou. This victory may be very important for Madrid to have in their possession of one of football’s most bitter rivalries after some recent defeats against their biggest rivals.
And Kylian Mbappé scored twice for the win, including a late goal that broke Barcelona’s resistance. The result was more than three points for Madrid. It gave the team confidence and ended Barcelona’s unbeaten start to the La Liga season and raised a big question that is very much in the minds of the fans: is this the beginning of Real Madrid’s redemption arc?
Mbappé Delivers When Madrid Need Him Most
Both sides were going to try to take control. Real Madrid showed attacking intent and created chances, while Barcelona tried to use their possession and movement to trouble the visitors.
Madrid took the lead in the 41st minute when a cross from Yan Diomande deflected off Barcelona defender Gerard Martín and went into the net off Mbappé. Obviously, there was an element of luck involved but Madrid had put the pressure that led to the opportunity.
Barcelona responded in the second half. Raphinha scored in the 61st minute after a clever pass by Pedri to bring the home side back in the game.
As the match was heading for a draw, Madrid got another moment of quality in the game in the final minutes. Jude Bellingham led the attack, Eduardo Camavinga provided the decisive pass, and Mbappé turned in the 87th minute to make it 2-1 for Madrid to give Madrid a memorable 2-1 victory.
A Psychological Boost After Recent Disappointments
El Clásico is more than league points. It’s also pride, confidence and the psychological benefit of defeating a major rival.
And Barcelona has been winning big wins against Madrid in recent weeks, so this result is very satisfying to Madrid supporters. Sky Sports reported that it was Madrid’s first win in Barcelona in three years.
The victory would help Madrid move into future games with more confidence. And it proved that the team could remain competitive even when Barcelona threatened to take control of the game.
One win doesn’t erase previous defeats. Madrid will need this kind of performance in the upcoming matches to prove that the result is a lasting change instead of a single good night.
Mourinho’s Tactics Make a Difference
He also had to celebrate with Real Madrid manager José Mourinho. His team defended with discipline, looked for opportunities to attack quickly and remained dangerous on the counterattack.
Barcelona had periods of pressure, especially after Raphinha equalised. But Madrid kept creating chances and in some moments defended them well.
The late winner showed how good fast transitions and quality finishing can be. Madrid took advantage of an opportunity when Barcelona were pushing for control, showing the importance of staying alert until the final whistle.
What Will It Mean for the La Liga Title Race?
The victory took Real Madrid to 24 points, three behind league leaders Barcelona, who settled for 27 points after 10 games. The result took Madrid closer to the top and put more pressure on Barcelona.
For Madrid, the challenge now is consistency. They are going to collect points and not lose momentum over the coming weeks.
Is This Real Madrid’s Redemption Arc?
The win is certainly a new chapter for Madrid fans. Beating Barcelona away from home and Mbappé delivering a decisive performance means a huge confidence boost for Madrid fans.
But only a real redemption story will be possible in the near future. If Madrid build on this victory, challenge strongly for the La Liga title and continue performing in future El Clásicos, this match could be the turning point.
Madrid have won a statement victory for now. The rivalry is hot but the confidence level has shifted—and Barcelona knows that they have their biggest rivals ready to fight back.
