"I Am the Real Winner": Ashwini Gowda Sparks Controversy Over Gilli Nata’s Bigg Boss Kannada 12 Victory

The curtains may have come down on the grand finale of Bigg Boss Kannada Season 12, but the drama is far from over. While the popular actor Gilli Nata walked away with the trophy and a massive cash prize, second runner-up Ashwini Gowda has stirred a hornet's nest by openly questioning the legitimacy of his victory.

In a series of candid interviews following the finale on January 18, 2026, Ashwini expressed her deep dissatisfaction, suggesting that the winner’s title was handed to someone who relied on "sympathy" rather than "merit."

The "Poor Card" Allegation

Ashwini’s primary grievance centers around the narrative built around Gilli Nata during the season. She alleged that Gilli strategically played the "poverty card" to sway the audience.

"I truly believe children of the poor should win and come forward. But is Gilli actually poor? I don't think so. I don't feel the winner's title has gone to the most deserving person this time," Ashwini remarked during a chat with a private news channel.

She further argued that Bigg Boss is a reality show based on personality and performance, not a "comedy show" or a platform for sympathy votes.

The Voting Controversy: "Release the Numbers"

Perhaps the most explosive claim made by Ashwini is regarding the final vote counts. She hinted that the data shown to the public might not reflect the ground reality.

"I have received information that there is a massive discrepancy between the votes I received and the votes credited to Gilli. If the actual, transparent voting numbers are released to the public, I am confident that the winner would change. In my heart, and based on the support I saw, I am the real winner," she claimed.

Ashwini also expressed a slight disappointment with host Kichcha Sudeep, noting that she had hoped this season would finally see a woman’s hand raised in victory. "I thought Sudeep sir would hold up a woman's hand this time, but I didn't expect to be let down like this," she added.

Gilli Nata Responds with Grace

Despite the heavy allegations, the newly crowned winner, Gilli Nata, has chosen to take the high road. When asked about Ashwini’s comments, he responded calmly, "She might have said those things in the heat of the moment or out of disappointment. I don't want to engage in a war of words."

Gilli Nata’s victory has been celebrated by a massive fan base. Following his win, he returned to his hometown for a victory rally, which saw thousands of people flooding the streets to catch a glimpse of the "People's Champion." Along with the trophy, Gilli took home a significant cash prize and a luxury car, which he plans to use to support his family and community.

Fans Divided

Social media is currently split between "Team Ashwini" and "Team Gilli." While many agree that Ashwini was a fierce and deserving competitor, Gilli's supporters argue that his relatability and humor earned him a genuine fan following that didn't need a "card" to win.

As of now, the show's producers and the channel have not responded to the demands for a public audit of the voting numbers.
