Why 'The Devil' Trailer Wasn't Promoted on Bigg Boss Kannada: Rajat Kishan Reveals the Real Reason

As Darshan’s high-octane actioner The Devil continues its strong run at the box office—crossing the ₹27 crore mark—a debate has been brewing among fans. Every weekend, Bigg Boss Kannada usually serves as a massive promotional platform for upcoming films. However, even with Gilli Nata (a top contender to win the BBK12 trophy) starring in the film, there was complete silence regarding The Devil inside the "Doddmane."

Rajat Kishan Breaks the Silence

Rajat Kishan, who recently exited the house after a month-long stint as a guest, addressed this concern in a recent interaction. According to Rajat, the reason is purely administrative rather than intentional.

"People are asking why Gilli’s own film wasn't promoted," Rajat explained. "The truth is, for any movie trailer or song to be aired on Bigg Boss, there is a specific legal and commercial process. The movie's production team must officially approach the channel and the production house of the show to strike a promotional deal."

No Official Approach from the 'Devil' Team

Rajat clarified that, to his knowledge, the makers of The Devil did not officially reach out to the Bigg Boss Kannada management for a promotional slot. Unlike other films that frequently use the show for marketing, the Devil team focused their efforts on digital platforms and ground-level fan events.

Furthermore, Rajat noted that playing songs or clips inside the house requires clearing copyright and music rights with the respective labels. Without an official tie-up, the channel cannot unilaterally broadcast the content.

Gilli Nata’s Dual Success

While the promotion didn't happen on screen, Gilli Nata is enjoying success on both fronts. Inside the house, his wit and performance have made him a frontrunner for the title. Simultaneously, his comedic role in The Devil has been receiving positive reviews from the "D-Boss" loyalists.

Even without the Bigg Boss push, the film's trailer garnered over 13 million views on YouTube, proving that the fan-driven marketing for Darshan’s return was more than enough to create a massive opening.
