Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric Bookings Open In India Ahead Of November Launch; CLA EV Crosses 1,000 Orders

The next generation of luxury vehicles from Mercedes-Benz for India are now up for booking with the luxury electric SUV GLC Electric (as well as its electric variants as part of the GLC Electric family) on November 4, 2026. The upcoming battery-electric product will be complementary to the German automaker’s growing electric vehicle portfolio in India as there is increasing demand for premium EVs.

The GLC Electric is another of Mercedes-Benz’s several battery-powered models that will soon be introduced to India and will be one of the company’s most anticipated launches during the festive season. Mercedes-Benz has yet to release all of the specifications and prices for India-specific models, but the start of bookings shows the company is ready for launch.

At the same time, Mercedes-Benz has also announced high demand for its new CLA electric sedan which launched in India recently. The company has taken 1,000 confirmed orders in India on the vehicle and demand is driving delivery time to March 2027.

Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric Bookings Begin

The upcoming GLC Electric will make its India debut on November 4, 2026. Mercedes-Benz has not yet come up with all the details for the India-spec version of GLC Electric including the final variant lineup, battery configuration and pricing.

The electric SUV will expand the company's presence in the luxury electric SUV segment and give existing Mercedes-Benz customers another option to consider when moving from an internal-combustion vehicle to an EV.

The GLC nameplate is widely recognized globally and this electric version was designed on top of Mercedes-Benz's latest generation of EV technology. The India launch is part of its larger strategy to enhance the battery-electric presence in the domestic market.

Mercedes-Benz recorded a 16 per cent year-on-year increase in BEV sales from January to September 2026. The growth reflects the increased demand for electric models for the company and is a perfect backdrop for the new GLC Electric.

International-Spec GLC Electric Offers Long Range

Though the final India-spec specifications still have not been confirmed, the international-spec Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric 400 4Matic provides a glimpse of what might be available with the SUV.

The international model has a 94kWh battery and is said to have a WLTP range of up to 715km. Its dual-motor all-wheel drive system provides 490hp and 800Nm of peak torque.

The performance figures put the electric SUV in the top tier of performance. The GLC Electric 400 4Matic can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 4.3 seconds.

Charging performance is also part of the vehicle's technology package. The international-spec model supports DC fast charging at up to 330kW, while Mercedes-Benz claims that around 300km of range can be added in about 10 minutes under suitable charging conditions.

However, these figures should not be expected to be applied to the India-spec vehicle. Mercedes-Benz is expected to announce the Indian model's specifications, equipment and pricing closer to the launch.

CLA Electric Crosses 1,000 Confirmed Orders

In addition to the GLC Electric booking announcement, Mercedes-Benz has pointed out that customers are very excited for its new CLA electric sedan in India. Now the model has more than 1,000 confirmed orders in India.

The strong response to the demand has caused longer waiting times for delivery and wait times are now well into March 2027. It shows that customers shopping for luxury cars in the luxury car market are becoming more and more interested in electric vehicles.

The CLA electric is especially drawing younger luxury car buyers, Mercedes-Benz says. The sedan combines the brand’s premium status and electric mobility with modern technology and a more modern design approach to the car, as well as the brand’s positioning of this particular sedan.

The CLA is also an entry point to Mercedes-Benz's electric range, allowing customers to access the company's BEV portfolio at a relatively lower position in its luxury lineup.

Mercedes-Benz Expands Its EV Portfolio In India

The GLC Electric and CLA electric are two different approaches to Mercedes-Benz’s EV strategy. The CLA targets high-end car buyers and the GLC Electric is more practical and has the higher driving position of an SUV for them, so both will appeal to the luxury consumer.

The two models have also allowed Mercedes-Benz to expand the electric offering of its electric cars in various classifications and not just a single body style to market their cars for the same vehicle type. This is all the more important as luxury car buyers have more choice from battery-powered vehicles from well-established global manufacturers these days.

The 16 per cent increase in BEV sales in the first nine months of 2026 further highlights that electric cars are increasingly a key part of the company's India operations. Mercedes-Benz is introducing new electric products but will be selling petrol-powered cars across its entire product line.

GLC Electric To Be Key Festive-Season Launch

The launch of the GLC Electric could also work in Mercedes-Benz’s favour with the big holiday sales season coming before it. Luxury carmakers use the last months of the year to introduce new products to get customers to purchase premium vehicles.

Now that bookings are in place, potential buyers can register their interest before the SUV's November 4 launch date. But things like battery capacity, range, equipment and price are to be specified for India-specific battery capacity, range, equipment and final price are not yet known.

The CLA electric's huge order book could also strengthen Mercedes-Benz's position in the premium EV market. With more than 1,000 confirmed orders and deliveries extending into March 2027, the sedan has already had a lot of early demand.

When the GLC Electric arrives, Mercedes-Benz will be looking to build on that interest and increase the share of electric vehicles in its Indian portfolio even more.
