Apple Launched Touchscreen and OLED to MacBook Pro: Check Features and Prices

Apple has released its first touchscreen MacBook Pro, marking a major change in the company’s approach to the design of laptops.

The new MacBook Pro has a tandem OLED display, touch gesture support, Apple’s M5 Pro and M5 Max processors and a redesigned interface with Dynamic Island. But the premium pricing in India has become a major talking point.

The 14-inch model starts at ₹3,49,900 and the 16-inch version at ₹4,09,900. In the United States, the corresponding models start at $2,899 and $3,399 respectively, which is a huge difference for Indian buyers.

The launch is significant because Apple has traditionally used keyboards, trackpads and external accessories rather than directly inputting on a MacBook Pro.

With the new MacBook Pro, users can touch the display, tapping, scrolling, dragging and pinching to zoom. The touchscreen is meant to complement, not replace, the keyboard and trackpad on a MacBook Pro, so professionals can work with documents, photographs, videos and other creative applications.

Apple MacBook Pro Touchscreen: India Price and US Price Compared. The new touchscreen MacBook Pro is available in 14-inch and 16-inch versions. The 14-inch model is priced at ₹3,49,900 in India and the 16-inch model is priced at ₹4,09,900. In the US, it starts at $2,899 and $3,399, respectively. Apple has started pre-orders and will launch in India on November 9, 2026.

The price gap is clear when the US prices are converted into Indian currency. At the exchange rate of ₹95 for US dollars, $2,899 is about ₹2.75 lakh and $3,399 is about ₹3.23 lakh.

Compared with those rates, the Indian starting prices are ₹75,500 higher for the 14-inch model and ₹87,500 higher for the 16-inch model. These are not like-for-like estimates but are indicative comparisons as the currency rates fluctuate and US advertised prices generally do not include sales tax whereas the Indian retail prices do in fact include tax.

The difference isn’t just converting dollars into rupees. India’s final retail price is influenced by taxes, currency movements, distribution expenses and the company’s regional pricing strategy.

Sales tax in the US also varies in every state and is typically added at checkout, so comparing the Indian sticker price to the pre-tax US price can exaggerate the difference. But even with all of these variables in mind, the Indian price still represents a premium and will be a factor that will make buyers carefully consider configurations before they buy.

Tandem OLED Display and Touch features. The headline upgrade is Apple's new PROLED XDR display, which uses tandem OLED technology. This 14-inch device has a 14.2-inch display screen and the larger version has a 16.3-inch display.

Apple says its panels will have a peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits, a contrast ratio of 10,000,000:1, and an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The display has support for the P3 and Adobe RGB colour spaces and is very suitable for photographers, video editors, designers and other professionals who need accurate colour reproduction.

Touch input lets you directly interact with what you see on the screen: you can zoom in to pictures and scroll through content and manipulate elements of compatible creative applications. Dynamic Island brings a familiar interface to the MacBook Pro from Apple’s iPhone lineup for users to see useful information and shortcuts at the top of the screen.

The new design is aimed at making everyday interactions more immediate while still having the precision of a trackpad and keyboard for detailed work. M5 Pro and M5 Max chips power the MacBook Pro.

The touchscreen devices are based on the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips rather than a new processor generation for this launch. These chips are designed for demanding professional tasks (video editing, software development, graphics and AI-assisted tasks). M5 Max configurations can achieve up to 128GB of memory and storage (up to 16TB memory and storage, depending on the model and configuration).

Apple also promises up to 24 hours of battery life, but it will all depend on the processor configuration, screen brightness, applications and workloads. Connectivity includes Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI, SDXC card slot and MagSafe charging, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.

And the MacBook Pro is a professional workstation for users who require high performance and a wide range of connections without reliance on an adapter.

What do you think of the new MacBook Pro with Touchscreen display at the 2026 price point? And for professionals who spend hours editing videos, writing music, editing photos or developing software, it might be a much more flexible way to do so.

OLED contrast, bright screen, touch controls and a lot of powerful Apple Silicon hardware would be very attractive to creative folks as you can see. The lighter design and the illuminated Apple logo are also very different, too.

But not every buyer will want a touchscreen laptop. A less expensive MacBook with the M6 chip is useful for users who mainly browse the web, attend online meetings, write documents or perform routine office tasks.

Apple also released a new 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M6 chip (priced at ₹2,39,900) in India with a non-touch display. The buyers have the choice between a new processor at a lower price and the more expensive touchscreen with M5 Pro or M5 Max chips.

If Apple’s first touchscreen MacBook Pro is the product of the future, then the price will be the key, and that should be the main reason for its success.

At ₹3,49,900 for the 14-inch and ₹4,09,900 for the 16-inch versions, it is a very nice laptop. But the price comparison between US and Indian should be rigorous, the product should be pre-tax and tax-inclusive and the OLED and touch features are worth it.

For creative professionals who can take full advantage of the new display, yes, but the more affordable MacBook Pro options could be better.
