Samsung seems to be getting closer to bringing its next flagship smartphone to India. The Samsung Galaxy S27 has reportedly received BIS certification (Bureau of Indian Standards) which means preparations for the launch in India are underway ahead of its expected early 2027 debut.
The smartphone has reportedly been listed on BIS certification database under model number SM-S952B/DS. The model number is believed to belong to the standard Galaxy S27. Listing doesn’t reveal name of Galaxy S27 or its specifications but it does hint that Samsung is preparing it for Indian market.
The certification comes as details about Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartphone series keep trickling out in different regulatory and database listings.
Samsung Galaxy S27 India Launch: What Does the BIS Listing Reveal
The Bureau of Indian Standards certification is a prerequisite for electronic products entering the Indian market. Smartphones generally need to meet regulatory standards before they can be sold officially in the country.
The fact that the suspected Galaxy S27 model number is listed on BIS database means Samsung is working on its availability in India but certification alone does not mean an immediate launch.
Samsung has not announced the Galaxy S27 itself nor its specifications or India launch timeline yet.
Samsung Galaxy S27 Expected Specifications
Although the BIS listing does not list hardware details, earlier database appearances and leaks have provided some clues about the smartphone.
The Galaxy S27 will reportedly have a 6.3-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, Samsung’s upcoming Exynos 2700 processor and 12GB of RAM. It could also pack 256GB of internal storage (or more).
Camera improvements could be another talking point. Samsung may introduce a 50-megapixel Sony primary camera sensor (current leaks suggest this). Rear cameras setup could also include 12 megapixel ultra wide and 10 megapixel telephoto sensors.
For selfies and video calls, the smartphone is expected to have a 12-megapixel front camera.
The Galaxy S27 could have a battery around 4,300mAh (unconfirmed), but reports also say that the phone will continue with 25W wired charging.
These specs come from early leaks and database information. Samsung has not confirmed any of these details.
Exynos 2700 Could Power the Indian Variant
One of the biggest changes expected is processor. Galaxy S27 will run Samsung’s next generation Exynos 2700 chipset in several international markets (India included).
Overall performance, graphics processing and power efficiency should improve over the predecessor processor. But how well? Only after the device is announced and tested will we know.
When Will Samsung Galaxy S27 Launch in India
Samsung has not announced an official launch date for the Galaxy S27 series yet. But the company usually launches its flagship Galaxy S smartphones in the first quarter of the year.
Based on its previous launch timeline, the Galaxy S27 lineup will arrive in January or February 2027.
Pricing details are also not available yet. For reference, Samsung Galaxy S26 started at Rs 87,999 in India for the 12GB RAM and 256 GB storage variant.
With BIS certification reportedly in hand, there could be more information about the Galaxy S27 coming soon. Until Samsung makes an announcement we should treat any leaked specs, pricing and launch date as tentative at least until then.
