Several schools in Amritsar received threatening emails, which led police and school authorities to take precautionary measures on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. Three schools, Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Ryan International School and Sri Ram Ashram Public School, were named in the threatening emails, a report said on Wednesday.
According to the reports, police were called in to the schools affected and security checks were done at the schools. The authorities were also working to establish the source and authenticity of the emails.
DCP Jugraj Singh Assures Parents and Students
DCP Operations Jugraj Singh said police teams had visited different schools and officers were continuing to check the situation.
He said schools were functioning and students were continuing their studies. Singh described the emails as an attempt by “mischievous people” to spread rumours and said there was no need for panic.
The DCP also said that there had been no suspicious activities in the checks and that the investigation was still ongoing.
His comments were to reassure students, parents and school authorities while police continued their verification process.

Police Continue Investigation
Police are investigating who sent the emails and if any of them was a real threat. There is no immediate information on any suspicious object being discovered at the schools, the report said.
Most authorities take such emails seriously even if they later turn out to be false because security agencies need to rule out any threat before schools can function normally.
The cyber teams will investigate the technical details of the messages as part of the investigation.
No Need for Panic, Police Say
The police response has been to keep safe and avoid creating panic in the schools and parents. The fact that school operations are still going on after the security check indicates that authorities had not identified any immediate physical threat at the inspected sites due to the information available.
Parents are to follow the instructions given by schools and police, and the investigation continues, he said.
