Cinema stars’ fans are intensely interested, and so a recent video featuring a woman in Delhi has only heightened that fan enthusiasm. A video circulating on social media seems to show a woman lying in the middle of a road near a traffic light in Delhi and refusing to move. According to the video claims she wanted to meet Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor Vijay and insists that she would not leave the spot unless he hugged her.
The video has attracted attention because of the woman’s unusual demand and the apparent efforts of police personnel to convince her to move away from the busy road. Two women police personnel can reportedly be seen trying to speak to her and persuade her to get up. But the woman appears unwilling to change her position. She allegedly tells those around her that she wants Vijay to come and hug her and that she would remain there until her demand was fulfilled.
The woman is seen lying on the road, and vehicles are parked at the traffic signal. The situation was an obstruction for drivers as cars were lined up and moved around her, the report said. There is also a person recording the incident who asks why she was lying on the road when traffic was being affected. She refuses to leave the area, and she wants to meet Vijay and hug him, she says.
At one point, when police officers were reportedly trying to get her to move, the woman tells them not to touch her. She is also heard saying that meeting and hugging Vijay is her right. Her response seems to leave those who are there in a difficult position as to how to reconcile the woman’s demands with road safety and the safety of traffic.
Vijay has had a huge fan base since he became the top star in Tamil cinema. His transition from cinema to politics also put him in the public eye. Vijay's political organisation Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) contested the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly election, and Vijay became Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister. His political journey has added another dimension to the attention on his public appearances and interactions with his supporters.
The actor-politician’s interaction with supporters has previously been a viral moment. During the 2026 election campaign, videos of enthusiastic Vijay meeting supporters were circulated widely on social media. One such incident was a supporter in Vellore who hung himself from a crane to welcome Vijay, and police action was taken. This viral moment during the election campaign also featured a newly married couple greeting Vijay on the roadshow, and the groom hugged him.
The latest video, however, is catching the attention for another reason. Instead of approaching Vijay at an organised public event, the woman in the video chose to sit down at a traffic signal and demand to meet him in person. The unusual sequence has led social media users to ask how much celebrity admiration can influence fans' attitudes.
At the same time, the circumstances surrounding the viral video, including where and how it was recorded and what happened after, need to be independently verified before concluding the footage alone. Viral videos can be reposted without the content of the video, or with additional claims that are not established from the video itself.
And yet, online, the video continues to attract attention, with people still wanting to meet and hug Vijay, and police trying to persuade her to leave the road. It illustrates yet again the emotional connection a lot of fans have with their favourite celebrities, even after they move from the entertainment arena into public office.
