The deceased has been identified as Mujahid Patel of Kundanur village in Chittapur taluk of Kalaburagi district. He was staying at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Government Hostel in Kalaburagi city and was studying BSc Nursing in a reputed college of the city.

Mujahid fell from the hostel’s fourth floor late at night, sources said. He died of fatal injuries after the incident. When news of his death spread at the hostel his parents and family members were seen in tears.

Police Begin Investigation into Suspicious Death

It is not known how Mujahid fell. Police are investigating whether he fell from the fourth floor or if anyone else was involved.

Senior police officials went to the spot and inspected the hostel. Brahmapur Police Station in Kalaburagi is investigating the case.

Investigators need to examine the evidence, take statements from hostel residents and establish what happened leading up to the death of the student.

The cause and circumstances of death have not been officially determined. It would therefore be premature to say whether it was a suicide, accidental fall or criminal act.

Student Had Stayed at Hostel for Around One Year

Mujahid Patel belonged to Kundanur village of Chittapur taluk. He was said to have been staying at the Ambedkar hostel for about one year.

However, reports said he was staying there without permission. Police will look into how long he stayed there and whether hostel records have information about his presence.

His family was in shock when they found out about the incident. The way they reacted at the scene showed shock and grief caused by the sudden death.

Previous Assault Incident at the Same Hostel Raises Concerns

The latest incident has been reported because another serious incident had reportedly taken place at the hostel just a few days back.

A student was allegedly stripped and beaten up by a group of people at the hostel. That incident had already raised questions about safety and security inside the premises for students.

Before the concerns about the earlier assault could die down, another student’s death has put the hostel back in the news.

The two incidents have raised questions about safety arrangements, supervision and security at the residential facility, but whether they are connected has not been established.

Senior Police Officials Inspect the Spot

When the student died, senior police officers went to the hostel and inspected it.

The investigation will help us to know exactly what happened in the fall. Statements from students, hostel staff and other people involved may help investigators reconstruct what happened.

The police are also expected to look into the hostel’s security arrangements and evidence available from the premises.

The case is being investigated by Brahmapur Police Station.

Mujahid Patel, 25, was killed suddenly, and his family is shattered. This has also brought back memories of student safety in Kalaburagi hostels. More details will emerge as the police investigation proceeds.
