Bengaluru Ranked 13th in Time Out’s World’s Best Food Cities 2026

Bengaluru has gained international recognition by being selected as the 13th city on Time Out magazine’s World’s Best Food Cities 2026 (which is the only Indian city to be among them). The recognition shows the city’s evolving culinary scene that merges traditional South Indian flavors with modern global food.

The rankings were based on surveys of over 24,000 residents worldwide and on food experts’ advice. Lima, Bangkok, and Mexico City were the top cities on the list and Bengaluru was the best in Asia for its love of heritage and contemporary food. This distinction places Bengaluru in the vanguard of the world’s culinary capitals like London, Barcelona, Melbourne, and New York.

Bengaluru’s food scene has long been known for staples like masala dosa, idli, vada and filter coffee. But what impressed experts and residents alike was the city’s ability to innovate. From craft breweries and sourdough pizza bars to natural wine venues and fusion restaurants, Bengaluru has adopted global trends and kept its authentic identity.

Indiranagar, Koramangala and MG Road have developed into culinary hot spots for both residents and foreigners. The city’s street food culture is very diverse and highly professionalized in the city and the food is very sophisticated in its cuisine.

The recognition also brings economic and cultural benefits. Tourism officials expect more international food travelers, and local restaurants and startups may be able to benefit from increased visibility. For residents, a ranking of the ranking is prideful, and in turn validates Bengaluru’s transformation from India’s “Silicon Valley” to a culinary destination of global repute.

Bengaluru’s place in Time Out’s list is much more than a ranking; it’s a testament to the fact that the city is a city that mixes tradition and creativity. Being the only Indian city featured, Bengaluru has established itself as a world-class food center, and in turn can still continue to develop in terms of its food market and culture as well and its cuisine and food experience are well developed.
