The launch comes as Nike looks for new opportunities to support its global business. With the introduction of a product tailored to the Indian market, the company aims to be more in touch with local runners and consumers looking for comfortable, versatile footwear at an affordable price.

Nike Vegam Run Price and Launch Date

Nike launched Vegam Run on October 28 with the shoe priced at ₹3,795 in India. According to the reported launch plans, it is going to go on sale from November 1 through Flipkart and selected retail stores.

The company will also extend the shoe's availability to additional retail partners in spring 2027. In 2027, international markets will receive the product, and so will the market of a shoe that was developed for Indian consumers.

But with high prices for Nike’s product, will it still attract people who want a brand that is known for its sportswear but not for specialised running shoes in the field

A Running Shoe Developed for Indian Consumers

The Vegam Run was developed with the needs of Indian runners in mind. Nike worked with runners in the country for training and daily running shoes and worked out their habits to understand their routines.

The footwear has an engineered mesh upper to promote ventilation and a full-length foam midsole for cushioning. A textured rubber outsole will ensure grip and durability so the shoe will be ready for regular wear. Pull tabs have also been included to make putting on and removing the footwear easier.

With running functionality mixed with everyday versatility, the shoes are designed for those who wish to wear shoes for exercise as well as for everyday use.

Nike has also emphasized the speed of development. The company went from the first design brief to a firm product in 55 days, in which case the whole journey from concept to launch was completed within roughly 5 months.

Why India Matters to Nike's Growth Strategy

Nike has a big opportunity in India with its huge population and increasing interest in fitness, recreational running, and organised sporting events. Developing products for the country can help the company build its relationship with local people.

The strategy is also happening as Nike is struggling in some of its established international markets, especially China, where sales have slipped in recent years. So growing in countries with more growth potential is very much in the company’s business plan.

Nike continues to expand its presence in India through investments beyond shoes. A new campus in Bengaluru was announced on October 8. The project will help Nike, Jordan Brand, and Converse teams and will be for use in the future.

Competition Will Remain a Key Challenge

Nike will have competition from international sportswear and domestic footwear companies in the price range. The Indian market is flooded with running shoes, and pricing, comfort, durability, and availability are key factors in purchasing decisions.

Vegam Run’s performance in the Indian market will show whether a locally made product can help Nike get new customers and expand its presence in the country’s sportswear market.

With this launch, Nike is making a more targeted approach to India. Rather than just building its international product line-up and focusing on what is already sold, the company will now make footwear specific to local customers to provide them with the shoes they will do well in a market that has huge long-term potential.
