A woman age of 25 married to a man age of 23 was found dead on the railway track near VC Farm Road in Mandya district of Karnataka on this morning.
The incident shook the local community. The deceased have been identified as Sahana and Rahul both from Bengaluru. They were allegedly in a relationship which had reportedly become a subject matter of constant quarrels between Sahana's family. Railway police reached the spot after information about the incident and inspected the place.
Bodies were shifted to mortuary at MIMS Hospital for further action. Police have also informed relatives of the deceased. Circumstances leading to their deaths are being probed and more details will be out once investigation is complete.
Sahana had married Veeresh eight years ago. They had two children a six year old daughter and two year old son. Veeresh was an autorickshaw driver and the family lived in Madanayakanahalli on outskirts of Bengaluru for the last two to three years. Rahul was also living in the same residential building as Sahana and her family.
Sahana and Rahul got close during this period. Their acquaintance turned into relationship over time. Eventually it created tension in Sahana’s marriage too. The relationship came to Veeresh’s notice and they started arguing with each other.
As tensions mounted, Veeresh allegedly objected to Sahana associating with Rahul. He had several disagreements with his wife on this matter and eventually moved the family out of Madanayakanahalli.
The couple’s family members and elders tried to resolve the dispute many times through discussions and reconciliation meetings but the differences continued. Sahana was reportedly told to stop associating with Rahul and focus on her family but the disagreements allegedly continued and relatives tried over and over again to settle it but could not.
Sahana and Veeresh had reportedly fought again on Monday over the same issue. Sahana allegedly told Veeresh that she wants to live with Rahul. Veeresh got angry and made threatening remarks (the preliminary account of the incident).
Sahana left her husband’s house and went to her grandmother’s house in Gunnayakanahalli village near Mandya after the argument. The developments reportedly raised further uncertainty about the future of the relationship and family dispute.
On Thursday Rahul went to Gunnayakanahalli and met Sahana. Preliminary reports say that the two had also thought of approaching police with a complaint against Veeresh saying he was preventing them from continuing their relationship but they were upset over the conflict and worried about their future. On Friday morning they were found dead on railway track near VC Farm Road in Mandya.
The incident has raised serious questions as to how it came to happen and the police are expected to look into sequence of events, statements of relatives and other evidence available.
Railway police personnel reached the spot and started investigation. Bodies were shifted to Mandya MIMS Hospital and families were informed. Police will find out exact circumstances of the incident through further investigation.
An incident occurred on Thursday morning near the VC Farm railway gate on the outskirts of Mandya city, where a married woman and a young man died after being struck by a moving train. The deceased have been identified as Sahana (25) and Rahul (23). Sahana, a native of Gunnayakanahalli in Mandya district, had married Viresh, an auto driver, about eight years ago after falling in love. The couple has a six-year-old daughter and a two-year-old son. The family was living in Madanayakanahalli, Bengaluru. Meanwhile, Sahana reportedly became acquainted with a young man named Rahul, who was living in the same building where they resided, and the two grew close. After this matter came to light, quarrels between the husband and wife reportedly occurred frequently. It is said that although elders intervened several times to resolve the issue, the discord continued. Recently, the couple quarreled again over the same matter, after which Sahana left their Bengaluru home and went to her parental home in Gunnayakanahalli, Mandya. On Thursday, Rahul reportedly also came to Mandya. Subsequently, both were found dead on the railway tracks near the VC Farm railway gate in Mandya. Suspicion has arisen that they may have died by suicide after being struck by a moving train. As soon as the incident came to light, Mandya Railway police rushed to the spot and conducted an inspection. They took custody of the bodies and shifted them to the mortuary of MIMS Hospital in Mandya for post-mortem. Police informed the deceased's family members, and the wails of the family members near the hospital have reached the skies. Mandya Railway police, who have registered a case, are continuing the investigation into the exact cause of both deaths and all aspects behind the incident.

Family disputes reported by them may be one aspect which police may look into; also circumstances surrounding relationship may be one aspect. No conclusions can be drawn till police complete inquiry.
The tragedy has also drawn attention to the two young children left behind after their mother died. Sahana’s six-year-old daughter and two-year-old son are now in an extremely difficult situation after losing their mother.
The incident shocked relatives and local people too. It also shows that serious relationship conflict, domestic disputes and emotional distress need support as soon as possible and intervention.
People experiencing extreme emotional distress or family conflict should not have to face these situations alone they should get help from trusted friends or mental health professionals or emergency support services rather than dealing with them themselves. More details about Mandya incident are awaited as railway police probe further.
