The Bollywood fraternity and moviegoers have been on edge after the veteran screenwriter Salim Khan was admitted to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital on February 17, 2026. Aamir Khan recently offered an update on the health status of the 90-year-old icon in a recent interaction, providing encouragement to all the well-wishers.
Aamir, who has a deep and loving connection with the Khan family, visited the hospital recently to see how the patriarch had recovered. Salim Khan still resides in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) but Aamir noted that, as the weeks progressed, things are getting much better for him.
"Praying for a Speedy Recovery"
Aamir Khan in a public statement admitted that despite the inability to be in the ICU with the patient, he was able to spend time with the family to offer support.
“I went to meet Salim Sahab. We are all praying that he recovers soon, because he is still in the ICU,” Aamir said. “I couldn’t come see him personally, but I sat with the family. Alvira ji (Salim Khan's daughter) tells me every day his health is getting better. We are all praying that he returns home soon and to be restored."
Medical History: Minor Brain Haemorrhage
Salim Khan came to the hospital last week after he had high blood pressure and only a minor brain haemorrhage. The Process: A pulmonologist, Dr. Jalil Parkar, the person running the procedure told the patients that no surgery was needed. Instead, a standard medical procedure (Digital Subtraction Angiography) was performed to manage the internal bleeding.
Status: Doctors have shown that Salim Khan is stable and out of danger but remains monitored in ICU at different rates due to his age. For protection, he was briefly placed on ventilator support, but is moving to a regular ward next.
Brotherhood in Bollywood
The hospital has received a steady stream of high-profile visitors, a testament to the high levels of industry respect afforded to Salim Khan in the industry. Other actors such as Shah Rukh Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Ranveer Singh and Javed Akhtar, Salim's signature writing partner have visited Lilavati Hospital with Aamir Khan on one of his visits to Lilavati Hospital to accompany Salman Khan and his siblings alongside Aamir Khan.
Though the Khan family has asked for the treatment to be kept a secret for the sake of privacy, the news from acquaintances (including Aamir and Daisy Shah, who claimed he is "fine and stable") have been a positive development to the veteran’s global fanbase.
