The much-awaited Bollywood romantic drama Tere Ishk Mein, starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon, released in theatres across India on Friday. Directed by Aanand L. Rai, the film marks the third collaboration between Rai and Dhanush after Raanjhanaa (2013) and Atrangi Re (2021).
Set against the backdrop of Banaras, the film tells the story of Shankar (Dhanush) and Mukti (Kriti Sanon), weaving themes of passion, sacrifice, and transformation. Written by Himanshu Sharma and Neeraj Yadav, the film runs for nearly three hours and blends romance, drama, and musical storytelling.
The release was accompanied by strong anticipation, with advance bookings crossing 240,000 tickets and generating over ₹5.6 crore before opening day. Industry analysts predicted a solid start at the box office, with collections expected to fall between ₹9–12 crore on day one.
Music composed by A.R. Rahman has already struck a chord with audiences, with tracks from the film trending on streaming platforms. The cinematography captures the vibrancy of Banaras, echoing the nostalgia of Rai’s earlier hit Raanjhanaa.
Audiences and fans flooded social media with excitement, praising the chemistry between Dhanush and Kriti Sanon. Many described the film as a “spiritual successor to Raanjhanaa,” noting Dhanush’s return to Banaras as a highlight.
Speaking about the release, director Aanand L. Rai said the film was “an exploration of love in its most intense form,” while producers expressed confidence that the story would resonate with audiences nationwide.
With its theatrical debut, Tere Ishk Mein is expected to be one of the biggest romantic dramas of the year, combining star power, soulful music, and Rai’s signature storytelling style.
