Popular Bhojpuri actress Monalisa has opened up about the hardships she faced in her early career, revealing that financial difficulties forced her to work in more than 25 B-grade films. Despite achieving fame and success today, the actress says her journey to stardom was filled with challenges.
In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, Monalisa spoke candidly about her personal life and the struggles she experienced before becoming a well-known name in the Bhojpuri film industry.
Financial Pressure Led to Difficult Choices
Monalisa admitted that during the early phase of her career, she accepted several low-budget film offers because she needed money. One of her early projects was the film Tauba Tauba, which had a very small budget. In the film, actress Payal Rohatgi played the lead role while Monalisa appeared in a supporting role.
She said the film helped bring her into the spotlight and opened the door for more opportunities in the industry.
Over 25 B-Grade Films
The actress revealed that she had worked in around 25 B-grade films, many of which never made it to theatres. Interestingly, she said she feels grateful that several of those films were never released publicly.
Despite the nature of those projects, Monalisa said she never had a problem performing romantic scenes on screen and approached every role professionally as part of her work.
Still Facing Financial Responsibilities
Monalisa also spoke about her current financial responsibilities. She and her husband, actor Vikrant Singh Rajpoot, are still working toward financial stability because both of their parents have health issues.
According to the actress, a significant portion of their earnings goes toward medical expenses for their families. However, she said they are grateful that they now have a comfortable home and do not struggle with basic necessities like electricity and water problems she once faced in the past.
No Regrets About Her Past
Reflecting on her journey, Monalisa said she has no regrets about the work she did during difficult times. She explained that when she was struggling financially, she accepted any work that came her way to support herself and her family.
Today, Monalisa is a well-known star who has worked across Bengali, Bhojpuri, and Hindi films, and has also gained popularity through television shows and reality programs. Her story highlights the often unseen struggles behind the glamorous lives of actors in the entertainment industry.
