Ram Charan’s latest movie Peddi is still doing wonders at the box office. One of the Telugu blockbusters in the last few years, it has been very good in India and abroad. Peddi has crossed the ₹233 crore mark worldwide in four days and is proof of Ram Charan’s star power.
The movie had another strong day at the box office yesterday with an estimated ₹31.90 crore net in India alone. That takes the film’s total domestic net collection to ₹157.15 crore in four days. The film’s total gross collections (in India) are around ₹187.02 crore, which is a testament to the huge popularity it has among the audience.
Besides the big success in the domestic market, Peddi is also doing well abroad. The film has collected around ₹46 crore in international markets, and its worldwide gross collection so far is almost ₹233.02 crore. It is the strong Telugu-speaking audience that is the reason behind the great response in India and abroad for the very good movie performance.
Trade analysts say the movie benefited from the extended weekend, which allowed it to draw a lot of people from a lot of regions. A packed theatre, good word of mouth, and Ram Charan’s huge fan base, along with the film’s huge opening weekend, made it an amazing start to the week in theatres.
But the road ahead might be more difficult. And while weekend collections can be a great boost for new releases, the real test for any film starts during the weekdays. Industry experts are watching Peddi from Monday onwards, as we usually see a decrease in audience turnout after the weekend rush. Constant numbers during the week will be crucial to the film’s lifetime earnings and the level of success it can achieve at the box office.
While Peddi still dominates ticket sales, the film is also in a growing controversy. Janhvi Kapoor's character has also been a topic of debate on social media and in the film industry. Some viewers and critics have questioned the way female characters are depicted in some scenes, which has opened up wider discussions on gender representation in mainstream cinema.
And then there was the famous actress Nithya Menen on the topic. She hadn’t made it to the movie yet, but she was proud of the conversation about how women are depicted in movies. In Nithya’s opinion, actors and actresses need to have their own parameters, and it’s important to cut scenes that might discomfort them.
“We are not helpless as actors; we can speak up about issues that are against our values and priorities,” she said. And for many people in our industry and the audience, this is the conversation about representation and artistic responsibility in the future of the field that we are in, and we need to be able to do it.”
Peddi is a box office big winner and one of the biggest movies of the year. Ram Charan is still producing another huge hit, and fans come back to theatres again and again, and the film has already been named as one of the big hit movies of 2026. Weekdays will now decide if Peddi will still make it and go on to even bigger box office milestones.
