Ram Charan has praised Vijay for moving from a highly successful film career to public service, and this is an accomplishment for the film fraternity as a whole.
Ram Charan, who is currently promoting his new movie Peddi across major cities in India, visited Chennai on May 30 as part of the film's promotional campaign. In a speech in the city, he was talking about Peddi and also about Vijay's journey from cinema to politics.
As Ram Charan said in front of the audience, Vijay chose to step away from films at the peak of his career and to focus on public service.
"Vijay left the cinema when he was at the height of his career to serve the people. As someone from the film industry, I feel extremely proud of him. You gave up your stardom and successful career to work for the public, and that is truly inspiring. I congratulate both the people of Tamil Nadu and Vijay sir," Ram Charan said.
A few days earlier, Ram Charan had congratulated Vijay on social media after his electoral victory. Vijay's vision and connection with people are what we see in him, and we believe he will be able to lead Tamil Nadu forward with confidence.
The admiration for Vijay in the Telugu film fraternity is not restricted to Ram Charan but also extends to others. Recently, his father, megastar Chiranjeevi, spoke to Vijay on the phone and congratulated him on the strength of his election victory.
Chiranjeevi had also publicly supported Vijay in the past. When content from Vijay's film Jana Nayagan was leaked online, Chiranjeevi strongly condemned the incident and voiced his support for the actor.
While Ram Charan's uncle and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, on the other hand, commented on Vijay's political success recently. Pawan Kalyan joked that Vijay's victory had made him "jealous."
"He became Chief Minister so quickly. He attracted people with posters and his popularity, while our people made me struggle for nearly 15 years," Pawan Kalyan said with a laugh.
However, as Peddi is imminent, Ram Charan’s comments have illustrated once again how much respect Vijay holds in the South Indian film industry and how many stars continue to celebrate Vijay’s progress from cinema icon to political leader.
