And now the eagerly awaited sports drama, which was supposed to arrive at the theatres on April 30 but was then postponed to June 4, was once again in the news, as it could be postponed due to the dispute between Telangana theatres and film producers and revenue sharing with the makers and Telangana cinema chains.

But the latest developments indicate that the issue is now moving toward resolution, and so the film will be released smoothly. The Telangana exhibitors’ organisation has announced on Wednesday that the percentage-based revenue-sharing system will be implemented from July 3, 2026, and the existing rental system will continue until June 30.

The breakthrough was achieved through the efforts of the famous actor Chiranjeevi and the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce. In an official letter, Telangana exhibitors said they had discussions with Chiranjeevi, and he promised to monitor the discussions and make sure the new revenue-sharing structure was implemented in the agreed time frame.

According to the statement, Chiranjeevi promised to keep an eye on the meetings and the development of the sub-committee as appointed by the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce. Therefore, exhibitors agreed to comply with the chamber’s instructions and let Peddi go.

The conflict was between Telangana theatre owners and producers seeking a percentage-sharing system for movie revenues. Under the current rental model, theatre owners pay a fixed rental to screen films, and the new system would put revenue on the table of exhibitors and producers based on ticket sales.

The percentage-sharing system has been implemented in around 23 cinemas in Telangana so far in April. But film producers opposed a wider rollout, saying that even if it were implemented for big movie releases, financial instability and confusion would be raised in the industry.

With the agreement now finalised, we expect the percentage-sharing system to be implemented in July and the rental system to be discontinued in Telangana theatres.

Peddi is gaining popularity with fans, and the project is getting more and more excited about Peddi. Recently, Ram Charan said after watching the movie that he was very emotionally attached to the film and called it one of the most special films of his career so far. “No matter how many films he makes in the future, Peddi will be his favourite film in his career because of the hard work and passion he puts into it.”

Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, Peddi is produced by Vriddhi Cinemas, Mythri Movie Makers and IVY Entertainment. The film will be released in different languages across India on June 4, 2026.

Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, Divyenndu Sharma and Jagapathi Babu are in the sports drama. Oscar-winning composer A. R. Rahman is handling the music, and cinematographer R Rathnavelu is in charge of the visuals.

With the exhibitors’ issue now temporarily settled and industry players moving towards a broader agreement, Peddi is on the cusp of a big theatrical opening for the fans anxious to see Ram Charan back on the big screen in a thundering sports drama.
