Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Varun Dhawan Extend Financial Aid to Jailed Rajpal Yadav

The Indian film fraternity is on the bandwagon of supporting a comic actor once more popular with the masses: Rajpal Yadav. On 5 February 2026 at Tihar Jail, he surrendered. After a moving video of Yadav asserting he "had no money and no friends" went viral, the industry proved him wrong with a "human shield" of financial as well as emotional support.

The "Bollywood Rescue" List

Yadav’s manager Goldie recently said several high profile figures have contacted the actor to see if they can help him clear up the unpaid dues resulting in the actor being incarcerated:

  • Superstars: Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn are said to have made big commitments to alleviate the ₹9 crore liability due to a 2010 loan for Yadav's Ata Pata Laapata film.
  • The Dhawan Family: Veteran filmmaker David Dhawan and actor Varun Dhawan helped out early on.

The "Messiah Effect"

Sonu Sood was quick to return that favour, not only lending his support but also booking Yadav a job in his next film, with an immediate signing amount to restore the actor's dignity.

Major Contribution: Music producer Rao Inderjeet Singh promised ₹1.11 crore, while politician Tej Pratap Yadav and KRK committed ₹11 lakh and ₹10 lakh.

Bail Hearing Tomorrow

The timing is critical. Yadav’s legal team has already made a bail application, and the hearing will be on Thursday, February 12, 2026. “The industry has stood behind him as a rock,” Goldie told The Indian Express. “Everybody is making commitments, and even though the deals don’t happen overnight, we’re really hopeful. If all goes well tomorrow at the hearing, Rajpal Bhai must be home."

Context of the Case

The crisis goes back to a ₹5 crore loan taken in 2010. Through interest and penalties over 16 years, the sum ballooned to almost ₹9 crore. The Delhi High Court ordered his surrender earlier this month after he failed to honour almost 20 such undertakings. His colleagues’ sudden surge of support is considered a watershed moment that could resolve the legal feud for good.
