Sreeleela, the star, is once again at the centre of social media speculation rumours as online rumours of actress Sreeleela's connection to young Indian cricketer Tilak Varma went viral.
But the actress’s mum, Dr Swarnalatha, now denied all rumours completely and made clear that the rumours are entirely baseless. Multiple online pages and fan accounts over the past few days had posted on social media that Sreeleela and Tilak Varma were allegedly dating.
The rumours spread like wildfires across entertainment, cricket fanbases and netizens, many of whom have spent most of their days researching unrelated incidents, connecting them to the speculations.
How the Rumours Started
Rumours allegedly started after Sreeleela and Tilak Varma appeared separately at Tirumala Temple on Vaikuntha Ekadashi. Although the two had each visited the temple independently, social media users began to make links between the visits. Speculation had gained more traction during a Mumbai Indians game where Sreeleela’s mother was said to be seen in the VIP stands.
Adding to the speculation, online users reported that a member of Sreeleela’s team allegedly wore a jersey that was written with Tilak Varma’s name attached. Following these little incidents, social media users started telling the story of the actress and cricketer being in a relationship.
Sreeleela’s Mother Reacts
Dr Swarnalatha reacted strongly to the rumours that had been made with an air of disbelief and said there was just a completely false record of whatever the claims were based on, reports that there was just nothing behind it. “These are all completely false, baseless rumours. They’re filled with not even a kernel of truth.
Sreeleela and Tilak Varma have never even met or spoken to each other,” she explained. Also, people made unwarranted assumptions on social media by creating connections between unrelated events. Sreeleela says she is now concentrating entirely on balancing her film career and education.
Focus on Studies and Films
Dr Swarnalatha also indicated that Sreeleela prepares for the upcoming NEET PG examination that is scheduled to be held in June and is also spending a lot of time on her studies as well as acting activities. “So far, she is juggling both her work and her career. She still has about another five to six years before she can even consider personal life or marriage.
Her work consists entirely of education and film right now,” she said. Sreeleela, who is acclaimed for her energetic performances and an expanding fan base in South Indian cinema, has been juggling acting projects, in addition to medical studies, winning much praise from fans.
Not the First Time
This isn’t the first time the actress has dealt with speculation about her relationships. Some weeks earlier, Sreeleela’s name was also tied to the Bollywood star Kartik Aaryan following a report that the two would co-star in the film Tu Meri Zindagi Hai. As with the latest rumours, all of those speculated topics also had a heated online conversation when no official confirmation came in.

Another example of how quickly celebrity gossip spreads on social media is that celebrities appear at these very same events or locations. Based on coincidences, the fans often make up a story, turning it into viral rumours with no factual basis. Despite this speculation about her current career, Sreeleela is focused and directed and is working on several films across various industries. Her supporters have also lauded her mother for taking a direct stand on the rumours and removing needless gossip.
