Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna Celebrate Wedding by Empowering 44 Govt Schools

After years of “are-they-or-aren't-they,” the South Indian film’s most coveted duo, Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, have finally begun their journey as a married couple. The duo, whom fans affectionately dubbed as “Virosh,” married in a deeply stunning ceremony in the lush city of Udaipur on February 26, 2026. Though the wedding was a royal affair with a combination of Telugu and Kodava traditions and jewelry reportedly worth several crores the couple took an important turn in their new chapter with their major act of social responsibility.

The "Devarakonda" Gift to Education

In an internet-friendly move, the newlyweds visited Vijay's ancestral village, Thummanpeta in Telangana's Nagarkurnool district. When they visited the place, with Vijay's mother, Madhavi Deverakonda in tow a big philanthropic gesture introduced themselves via the Devarakonda Charitable Trust.

  • The Initiative: Providing scholarships to students of 44 government schools in the Achampet division.
  • Target Group: Students of Class 9 and Class 10, with an eye towards reducing their dropout rate as they enter academic leadership during the most critical time of life.
  • The message: “You’ve always been there on our journeys,” the couple wrote together, adding that their celebration is incomplete without giving back to the community that brought them up.

Aside from education, the couple organized Annadanam (sacred food offerings) at 16 temples across states as diverse as Karnataka, Telangana and Rajasthan and distributed thousands of sweet boxes to fans and media personnel in 23 cities.

Udaipur Mandap up to Satyanarayana Vratam

The wedding of the couple in Udaipur was held in strictly private at the Mementos luxury property owned by ITC Hotels. The morning consisted of a traditional Telugu-tinged ceremony to commemorate Vijay’s heritage, before a Kodava evening ceremony that emphasized Rashmika’s Coorg origins.

After the nuptials, the couple returned to Telangana to perform the Grihapravesham (house-warming) and Satyanarayana Swamy Vratam puja at their new home. Pictures of Rashmika wearing nothing other than her traditional garb with a warm welcome by Thummanpeta villagers during folk-dance have since spread.

The grand reception: High tech security at Taj Krishna

The celebrations are expected to come to a crescendo with an over-the-top wedding reception March 4, 2026 at the Taj Krishna, Hyderabad. In a sharp contrast to this high-water mark, the celebration is set to be a star-studded gala with the "who’s who" players (say, Allu Arjun, and Prabhas, the cast of "Bollywood" Karan Johar who are, as of late, among the hottest political figures on the planet) in tow. But "Virosh" is taking no chances with security. Following police advice to manage the massive public interest:

  • Strict Invite Only: The guest list has been significantly trimmed to avoid traffic congestion.
  • Entry by QR Code: A one-time usable, unique QR code must be provided for entry from the guest’s plate.
  • Police Surveillance: Heavy police will monitor the venue for crowd safety.

As a couple gearing up for their landmark Hyderabad debut as husband and wife, the marrying couple’s combination of high-octane chic and humble philanthropy has raised the bar for celebrity weddings in India.
