Police are already patrolling vehicles coming to Delhi from Uttar Pradesh at Loni Gol Chakkar and Apsara Border.

Security has been beefed up at some entry points to prevent law-and-order problems as well as surveillance of people who have arrived at the proposed protest site. Police are closely monitoring vehicles and commuters as the city prepares for protests over electoral problems and those in the national capital are in high safety.

The protest will centre around calls for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Organisers have questioned the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and the alleged voter-list revision process.

These allegations have also become political fodder and opposition groups have questioned aspects of the exercise.

Delhi Police has not granted permission for the proposed demonstration, saying restrictions were necessary to maintain public order. Security on sensitive locations and road and border crossings have increased, and the police have increased the level of monitoring of roads and border crossings.

The Loni Gol Chakkar and Apsara Border checking operation is part of the overall security arrangements for vehicles and people moving into the city from Uttar Pradesh. There will be more scrutiny and delays for the commuters travelling through these areas.

Police have also put up beefed up security around Jantar Mantar and other key points in central Delhi. Barricades, personnel deployment and surveillance measures are being put in place for unauthorised meetings and reaction to possible problems with disruption. The capital is taking security measures collectively.

And now that the electoral process is going to be changed and voter lists are going to be revised and this is a big issue, so the protest has been particularly significant.

The increased security measures could affect traffic flow at borders and roads leading into Delhi's core and the areas of traffic that lead to central Delhi.

People going into the capital have been advised to be alert to road traffic restrictions and be patient and wait for more time to travel into the capital and travel in a safe way, as well as to avoid traffic and slow down.

Police checks at the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border are especially significant since hundreds of commuters enter and leave the capital via these routes every day. The extra deployment is intended to help authorities track movement as the protest date approaches.

With high security at border points and around Jantar Mantar, Delhi Police is on guard. Everything is planned to prevent disruption and to deal with the expected gathering.

There are more developments to come down the line and the actions of the organisers and authorities and the situation on the ground will depend on the ground. Commuters need to follow traffic advisories and police orders in a disaster affected area.
