Jesus spoke words of forgiveness and compassion to them, according to the Gospels. He died after hours of pain, and his body was placed in a tomb.

The sadness of the day is in the mind; but it is called “Good Friday” because of the hope and salvation which came because of the resurrection on Easter Sunday.
