A protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar for NEET examination irregularities was rocked by a woman throwing an ink-like blue liquid on Saturday at Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke while he was speaking to supporters. The protest was disrupted and party workers and demonstrators rushed the stage as security personnel intervened.
The woman was quickly arrested by Delhi Police. But no news was given about her identity or why. A probe is now in progress to determine whether the attack was spontaneous or a part of some kind of planned disruption.
The incident just comes at a politically sensitive time when protests against possible irregularities in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) are going on. The protest has also attracted national attention after the removal of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk from the protest site earlier in the day.
Chaos During Dipke's Address
Witnesses told us Dipke gave a speech to his supporters when the woman suddenly appeared and threw a blue ink-like substance at him. The attack generated panic among the party members as many party workers rushed to shield the CJP leader and tried to stop the woman from fleeing from Dipke.
Police officials at the site immediately intervened and detained the accused woman. We cannot know if she was acting alone or if anyone else was involved, the police chief said.
Video of the incident immediately went viral on social media and showed the confusion that followed the attack. It has since gone viral and has been viewed widely on the internet, and the reaction of people in many news articles has been mixed online.

Dipke Reacts on Social Media
Abhijeet Dipke shared a video of the attack on social media platform X shortly after.
He also posted a brief message along with the clip saying:
"Blue is my colour... Jai Bhim!"
The post quickly gained traction on the blog with supporters slamming the attack and supporting the CJP leader.
Protest Intensifies After Wangchuk's Hospitalisation
The ink attack came just hours after Delhi police moved climate activist Sonam Wangchuk from Jantar Mantar to Safdarjung Hospital after concerns over his deteriorating health.
Wangchuk had been observing an indefinite hunger strike since June 28 in support of the CJP-led protest, which alleges irregularities in the NEET examination and demands the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
According to doctors monitoring his health, Wangchuk has lost almost 9.5 kg during the fast and is being closely monitored due to fluctuations in his blood pressure and blood sugar levels.
We saw people in solidarity behind the man who had been removed from the protest site and several protesters attempted to stop police from taking him away. There were brief scuffles before authorities managed to get him to the hospital.
Dipke Announces Hunger Strike
After Wangchuk's hospitalisation, Dipke announced that he would continue the movement by starting an indefinite hunger strike himself.
He accused the government of attempting to weaken the protest by police action and alleged that several demonstrators were detained in the early morning operation.
Supporters at Jantar Mantar vowed to continue their agitation, insisting that their demands regarding the NEET controversy would remain unchanged despite the developments.
Police Explain Operation
According to sources, Delhi Police planned Wangchuk's removal under tight secrecy.
Only a few senior officers were apparently aware of the operation beforehand, according to officials. They chose early morning hours because they expected the number of protesters on the scene to be minimal, reducing the possibility of confrontation, officials said.
Police maintained that the decision was made based on medical advice and concerns about Wangchuk’s health after nearly three weeks of fasting.
Investigation Underway
Police are still investigating Dipke's ink attack. Police are studying available video footage and questioning witnesses and trying to determine the reason for the woman's actions.
The incident has only intensified the already tense atmosphere surrounding the NEET protests. With Dipke now preparing to continue the hunger strike and protesters also committed to continuing the campaign, the demonstrations at Jantar Mantar are likely to remain in focus in the coming days.
