New Delhi: India's National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval had a very important meeting with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud on energy security; regional developments; and the importance of India-Saudi partnership. Bilateral relations are increasing as both countries expand cooperation in many areas.
At a time when geopolitical trends in West Asia are still a concern for countries around the world, the meeting is also significant. India is one of the world’s fastest-growing economies and the leading importer of crude oil and it is very important to maintain energy supply and is keen to keep a good diplomatic relationship with its Gulf neighbors.
They discussed what is happening with the region today and also what is happening to peace, stability, and security in West Asia. Issues that are of mutual interest also came up and we discussed, from it I think the cooperation is important to cope with the ever changing geopolitical and economic situation in this region.
The energy security was one of the central themes of the meeting. India is one of the largest crude oil suppliers in Saudi Arabia and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and Saudi Arabia is an essential partner in India’s energy strategy in the country. As energy markets around the world continue to be challenged by global conflicts and economic uncertainty, the energy security of India is of utmost importance in modern day energy supply.
