Nagendra’s sudden Delhi visit has raised questions about whether he could step down from his ministerial position. But there has been no official announcement yet that the minister has decided to resign.
The speculation comes days after Nagendra spoke to Chief Minister D K Shivakumar. In the meeting, he said the minister admitted that if the continuation of the government was embarrassing to the party and administration, he would be willing to give up his ministerial post.
So, as a consequence, his decision to travel to Delhi just after the Chief Minister's departure has attracted a lot of political attention.

The sudden Delhi visit of Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi has triggered speculation in Karnataka Congress circles.
Jarkiholi travelled to Delhi in the middle of a heated debate over Deputy Chief Minister appointments. The development comes a few hours after former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah made a statement recalling conversations within the party about the creation of multiple Deputy Chief Minister positions.
Siddaramaiah had previously said that there were discussions of having four or five Deputy Chief Ministers and that he was instrumental in ensuring D K Shivakumar’s appointment as Deputy Chief Minister at the time.
Jarkiholi had himself been among the Congress leaders who were keenly associated with discussions around the Deputy Chief Minister post.
His recent visit to Delhi, therefore, has triggered speculation that he could have talks with the Congress high command on the issue and the future political arrangement in the state.
Demand For ST Representation
Another issue that seems to be associated with Jarkiholi’s Delhi visit is cabinet representation for the Scheduled Tribe community.
The political circles are debating whether, if Nagendra leaves the ministerial post, the vacant position should be given to another leader from the same community.
There is pressure for an ST community leader to be considered if a cabinet vacancy arises. Jarkiholi's visit to Delhi has therefore been viewed by some observers both as cabinet expansion and community representation.
