So a minor argument over eating chicken turned fatal in Karnataka’s Belagavi district after two friends at a party fought and one man was stabbed to death.
The incident was reported from Hunasyaal PG village in Mudalagi taluk, where a disagreement between friends turned into a violent confrontation.
The deceased has been identified as Seetharam alias Sathiram, a native of Kabirganj village in Pilibhit district of Uttar Pradesh. He was working at Priya Steel Company in Mudalagi town.
According to initial information, Seetharam and friends had gathered for a party when an argument erupted over the consumption of chicken. There was a dispute between Seetharam and friends after one of the friends asked Seetharam to eat more chicken.
What started as a verbal argument escalated quickly, eventually resulting in a fatal attack.
Friend Allegedly Stabs Seetharam
Police suspect that Arun Kumar, who was reportedly from the same village as Seetharam, attacked him with a knife during the fight, they said.
According to the information available, Arun Kumar allegedly stabbed Seetharam in the chest during the fight.
The accused, after the attack, attempted to take the injured man to Gokak Government Hospital for treatment. But Seetharam's condition was serious after the stabbing.
The incident was later under police investigation when investigators suspected that an attempt had been made to portray the incident differently.
Attempt to Mislead Police?
According to the first report, Arun Kumar tried to create an impression that Seetharam fell from the upper part of a building, rather than revealing that he had been stabbed during the argument.
But police investigation raised questions about the circumstances of Seetharam's injuries.
Police from Ghataprabha Police Station visited the hospital and began investigating the circumstances of the incident.
The accused was then taken into custody for questioning.
Police Begin Investigation
The fatal confrontation is now being investigated. Police will also be investigating the situation, how the argument started, and what happened in the hours before and after the stabbing.
The motive, it seems, was a dispute over chicken during the gathering, and the reason is not clear yet. Police investigation will determine the exact cause and sequence of events.
A case has been registered at the Ghataprabha Police Station in connection with the death.
After the investigation, the accused was produced before a court and sent to judicial custody.
But the incident shocked the residents of Hunasyaal PG village, because it seems that the seemingly normal clash between acquaintances resulted in a fatal event.
The case is still under investigation, and more details on the death and evidence collected by police are expected to emerge as the investigation continues.
