The city's pubs, bars, and restaurants remain the hot favourite destinations for New Year's Eve celebrations. However, twenty days ahead of the main event, the Bengaluru City Police have initiated rigorous preparations, announcing a set of strict new guidelines for establishments, prompted by recent safety concerns following the tragic fire incident at a Goa pub.
The police have held mandatory meetings with pub, bar, and restaurant owners to outline the elevated safety and regulatory requirements for New Year's celebrations this year. Key among the new rules is the strict mandate for Fire Department Permission. Every establishment planning to host a New Year's Eve party must secure a valid fire and safety clearance certificate. Any bar or pub found serving customers without this essential permission will be immediately shut down, and legal action will be initiated against those who violate this order.

Police guidelines explicitly state that establishment owners will be held solely accountable if any mishap or disaster occurs due to overcrowding during the parties. To mitigate this risk, owners are strictly forbidden from admitting customers beyond the venue's permitted capacity. Furthermore, all venues must adhere to the designated time limits for serving customers and cannot extend service beyond the regulated closing hours. To ensure transparency and security, every location hosting a celebration must install mandatory CCTV cameras in the celebration area. Special emphasis has also been placed on prioritizing women's safety, requiring venue owners to exercise extreme caution and provide adequate security measures throughout the night.
