A stunning story in Bengaluru reported that a woman has sued her 23-year-old daughter for covertly recording and sharing private compromising pictures of her and a relative with her boyfriend. The case, which was registered in early February 2026, has posed serious issues as it relates to the privacy of digital technologies and elder exploitation.
Betrayal at Home: The Discovery
The incident came to light after a 49-year-old homemaker who lived in a neighborhood off Mysuru Road became suspicious of her elder daughter's behaviour. The family, who have been living in Bengaluru for 25 years, includes parents and two daughters.
How the Incident Unfolded
- Suspicious Activity: The mother became fearful after noticing her daughter, a BBA graduate, abruptly terminating a video call with an unknown man. The daughter wouldn’t give information or unlock her phone.
- The Phone Search: The parents used their skills to access the device after hours of persuasion. To their horror, they discovered pictures of the mother's private parts taken by the girl while she was asleep.
- Targeting the Aunt: Even more disturbing was the discovery where the mother discovered nude videos and photographs of her elder sister, also the girl's aunt, secretly taken during her bathing at their residence.
- The Recipient: The images had been forwarded via WhatsApp to a man named Varun (otherwise known as Giridhar). Chat logs showed that Varun had directly asked the young woman to send the images of her relatives in a compromising manner.
The Escape and Legal Action
The daughter reportedly showed no remorse when confronted, continuing to argue with the family. On February 1, 2026, she reportedly left the house expressing her intention to get married with Varun.
