According to initial reports, the BMTC electric bus crashed into a stationary BMTC Vayu Vajra airport service bus at a traffic light near KR Circle. The impact was so severe that the front of the electric bus was driven into the rear of the Vayu Vajra bus, causing extensive damage to both vehicles.

The electric bus that was involved in the accident was registered as KA 51 AJ 6163, and witnesses said the crash was loud enough that it grabbed the attention of commuters and pedestrians. Some passengers were thrown out of their seats due to the impact.

Passengers Trapped Inside Damaged Bus

The accident left several passengers trapped inside the bus, and a huge rescue operation was launched. Fire and emergency services workers arrived at the site and started to try to evacuate those trapped in the mangled vehicle.

The most difficult rescue case was a woman whose leg became caught between metal bars inside the damaged bus. The rescue teams were able to pull her out without any further injuries. Witnesses said they heard passengers cry for help when they couldn’t leave the bus on their own.

The accident caused a major traffic disruption in the area of KR Circle, one of Bengaluru’s busiest intersections, as fire and traffic police cleared the area.

Driver Suffers Serious Head Injury

The BMTC driver of the electric bus suffered severe injuries in the crash. He suffered a serious head injury and was immediately shifted to St. Martha’s Hospital for treatment, officials said.

Five people were admitted to the hospital after the accident, including the driver. Medical staff are on site to monitor the injured passengers and provide treatment. Some passengers were injured while the driver was in critical condition, hospital sources said.

The traffic police are now investigating the exact cause of the collision. Initial evidence suggests that the electric bus crashed into the Vayu Vajra bus while it was stopped at a traffic signal.

Another BMTC Accident Reported Near Vidhana Soudha

In another incident on the same day, another BMTC bus was involved in a collision near the Vidhana Soudha signal. A car waiting at the traffic signal was hit from behind by a BMTC bus, damaging the rear of the vehicle.

Fortunately, the three occupants in the car escaped without major injuries. Officers from the Cubbon Park Traffic Police Station visited the site and conducted an inspection.

Growing Concern Over BMTC Bus Accidents

The back-to-back accidents have once again raised concerns about road safety and the increasing number of BMTC-related mishaps in Bengaluru. Commuters and residents want to see safety protocols reinforced, driver training improved, and better monitoring for drivers to prevent such incidents.

With Bengaluru's roads experiencing heavy daily traffic congestion, transport experts believe that greater safety awareness and regular driver assessments are needed to reduce accidents involving public transport vehicles.

The KR Circle collision will be thoroughly investigated, and necessary measures will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
