State-owned oil marketing company Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) launched Bharatgas Lite ZIP, a premium LPG service that will give instant LPG connections and express cylinder delivery. With the launch in Mumbai, it will be available in 100 other cities in 24 states by August 15, 2026, and this is a step towards modernising domestic LPG services in India.
The new offering is for the customers who are looking for a quicker and more convenient way to get cooking gas connections, with growing demand for digital services and faster home deliveries.
LPG Connection in Minutes
Bharatgas Lite ZIP has one of the biggest benefits, customers can apply for a new LPG connection instantly through digital platforms without going to the distributor.
People who do not already have an LPG connection can simply visit Bharatgas Consumer Portal or download the Hello BPCL mobile application. Once a customer has completed the Know Your Customer (KYC) process using identity and address proof (e.g., Aadhaar card), they can book their first LPG cylinder online.
A digital-first approach is expected to be much faster, reduce paperwork, and make the process much faster than traditional methods.
Lightweight Composite Cylinder
A major attraction of Bharatgas Lite ZIP is its Bharatgas Lite composite cylinder which is very different from steel LPG cylinders which are often considered conventional steel LPG cylinders.
The cylinder is:
- Much lighter than traditional steel cylinders, so they are easier to lift and carry.
- Rust-free and corrosion-resistant, for a long service life.
- A transparent gas level indicator, so that users can see the remaining LPG without having to guess.
- A safer and modern design.
According to BPCL, these features are all that makes the composite cylinder more suitable for urban households, senior citizens, students, and working professionals who are looking for convenience and ease of use.
Expansion Across India
The service has been launched in Mumbai, but BPCL has already announced a huge expansion plan.
By August 15, 2026, Bharatgas Lite ZIP will be available in 100 more cities in 24 states, and this will give customers a much larger base to access instant LPG connections and faster cylinder deliveries.
The move will make LPG easier for more people to adopt, the company said.
Competition in the Premium LPG Segment
BPCL’s announcement comes at a time when Indian state-owned oil marketing companies are increasingly focusing on premium LPG offerings and digital delivery services.
Recently, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) teamed with Swiggy Instamart to offer on-demand LPG cylinder delivery in Bengaluru. The service offers customers the 10-kg HP Navya composite cylinder, which can also be ordered without an existing domestic LPG connection.

With the launch of Bharatgas Lite ZIP, all three major public sector oil marketing companies are strengthening their presence in the premium LPG market through digital booking, lightweight composite cylinders, and faster delivery models.
