Ashadha Fridays are a time of great devotee festival in Chamundeshwari Temple and lakhs of Hindus come from all over Karnataka and neighbouring states to worship Goddess Chamundeshwari. To control the crowd and preserve the temple tradition, we have put in place some measures for the distribution of prasada and religious offerings.

According to temple officials, only authorised prasada distributed through officially designated counters and approved channels is allowed in the temple premises. Devotees have been advised not to purchase prasada, coconuts, flowers, or other religious items from unauthorised sellers claiming to represent the temple. Each year, there are some people who try to exploit the large number of devotees and deliberately mislead them.

Temple management has warned that any person who peddles or distributes prasada illegally under the name of the temple will be responsible for the penalty. Such activities violate temple rules and confuse devotees, and chaotic services in a temple are not orderly. Enforcement of laws and fines is expected to take place if this material is used illegally, according to officials.

The advisory is part of a larger plan to be more efficient in crowd management in Ashadha. With thousands of pilgrims coming in every day, temple authorities, district administration officials, and police personnel have been working together to make sure the pilgrimage is safe and organised. Queues are managed efficiently, parking facilities are provided, drinking water is provided, medical services are provided, and security is ensured in the temple and around it.

The police also asked devotees to cooperate with temple staff and follow all the instructions given for donations and requests by volunteers and police officers. Visitors are also encouraged to buy prasada only at authorised counters and to keep receipts as appropriate if required. This way, fraud is prevented, and temple devotees are guaranteed to receive genuine temple offerings from the right place.

Besides prasada distribution, officials are also monitoring commercial activities around Chamundi Hills. Temporary stalls and vendors who are operating without permission are being identified, and enforcement teams are in place to take action against violators. More comprehensive monitoring will serve to ensure order and to protect devotees from being deceived or overcharged, the administration hoped.

Chamundeshwari Temple is one of Karnataka’s most venerated pilgrimage spots and is one of the most cherished cultural and spiritual destinations in Mysuru. Ashadha celebrations are one of the most important annual events associated with the temple, drawing huge numbers of people and are a big deal in terms of planning by the authorities.

Visitors to the temple during the last Ashadha festival should plan their trips, follow the guidelines, and be cautious when purchasing religious offerings. The public’s cooperation is very important for a peaceful and successful festival season, the government said.

As pilgrims keep on coming, temple officials hope that adherence to the rules will preserve the sanctity of the celebrations so everyone can participate in the festival without inconvenience. Violators of the rules for unauthorised prasada distribution will be fined significantly.
