Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar joined the Congress protest at Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi on Tuesday, standing with Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and the party’s general secretary K.C. Venugopal.
Many senior Congress leaders and party workers joined the protest in the presence of several other senior Congress leaders. They were protesting against the Prime Minister in Lok Kalyan Marg, which is a high-security area of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence.

Visuals from the protest showed Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, D.K. Shivakumar, and K.C. Venugopal leading the march and interacting with party supporters. The leaders raised slogans and reiterated the Congress party's stand on the issues that prompted the demonstration.
D.K. Shivakumar's participation underlined the Congress leadership’s effort to present a united front, with senior leaders from the party organization and Congress-ruled states joining the protest in the national capital.
The protest took place at a time when the security in the vicinity of Lok Kalyan Marg was tight, and Delhi Police had deployed personnel and barricades to control movement and maintain law and order. Police detained several Congress leaders and workers who were trying to march towards the Prime Minister’s official residence earlier in the day.
The Congress is organizing demonstrations in Delhi to put pressure on the Centre over problems it has said it believes need to be taken up under the government’s eye at a very early stage. Party leaders maintained that peaceful protest is a democratic right and pledged to continue raising public concerns through constitutional means.
No official statement was issued by the Delhi Police on the participation of senior leaders in the protest or any further action taken during the demonstration.
The gathering was under close security surveillance as political activity went on around Lok Kalyan Marg, and the protest attracted a lot of media and public attention.
