Another cloudy and rainy day is likely to take place in Delhi on Wednesday, August 19, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to very light rainfall across various parts of the national capital. The city will see a few days of rain in the day, but there is little chance of heavy rainfall in its vicinity during the next few days.
Delhi will have partly cloudy to generally cloudy skies on Wednesday, according to the weather forecast. There will be a few light rain episodes at most places, and some areas may get moderate rain in the early morning or late afternoon. Another very light to light rain is likely in the evening or night.
The latest forecast comes as monsoon activity continues to persist in many parts of the country. But Delhi is not expecting to see a serious spell of heavy rain soon. And the weather conditions are also expected to be relatively stable, with scattered showers to provide a little relief from the heat and humidity.
An IMD scientist, Akhil Srivastava, of Delhi, according to ETV Bharat, said parts of Delhi may get light showers and cloudy conditions. The rain and cloud cover are expected to provide some relief from the heat, with temperatures possibly falling by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius for the areas that are affected.
The temperature is around 31 degrees Celsius in Delhi at present. The maximum temperature is expected to remain close to 34 degrees Celsius in the coming days, while the minimum temperature has been recorded at around 27 degrees Celsius.
The weather outlook for August 19 to August 23 implies only slight changes in temperatures. The maximum temperature is expected to remain around 34.2 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature at about 26.5 degrees Celsius.
The IMD has also indicated that there will be limited variation in Delhi's temperatures through the first week of September. The maximum temperature is expected to remain around 34.1 degrees Celsius until September 7, and the minimum temperature could remain close to 25 degrees Celsius.
However, the minimum temperatures in Delhi have been above normal by about 1.6°C to 3.0°C at some places. At other places, the minimum temperatures are still in the normal range, which the IMD classifies as between -1.5°C and 1.5°C from the seasonal average.
For residents, Wednesday’s forecast means rains will happen at different times of the day, but not in a large-scale heavy downpour. Residents should be prepared for sudden showers, especially during the morning, noon, and evening.
The cloudy skies, intermittent rainfall, and a temperature in the mid-30s will keep Delhi's weather fairly similar over the next couple of days. The monsoon is still active here; residents can expect occasional showers, but no major heavy rain in the capital is likely to occur in the near future.
