Bengaluru: Actor Samrat Vijay, son of Duniya Vijay, has been accused of assaulting a fellow student after an alleged dispute over a car overtaking incident. The student was a student of RV University and was in Bengaluru.
According to the complaint, the dispute began two days ago when Manish Gowda and his friends overtook the vehicle Samrat Vijay and his friends were travelling in. According to the report, the incident happened in RR Nagar when Manish and his friends were driving in an i20 car and came up behind a Gypsy car.
The situation is alleged to have escalated the following day. Manish Gowda met Samrat and his friends outside RV University on Mysuru Road, they claim. Manish was allegedly taken in a vehicle when he was alone near the university parking area.
The complainant has said he was taken to Rocks Pub Road, where he was assaulted by a group of people. He claimed six people were involved in the attack and hit him on his face, chest and head.
Manish Gowda was taken to a private hospital following the alleged assault, he said. Later, he contacted the Kengeri Police and filed a complaint.
The complaint names Samrat Vijay as the first accused. It also names Samrudh Simha, Vishwas, Venkatesh and Sameed as more than six others. The complaint is filed against six people in connection with the alleged assault.
According to the complainant's version, the incident was linked directly to the earlier car overtaking dispute. Samrat and his friends arrived in a Safari vehicle and forcibly took him away before assaulting him.
The complainant also alleged he was surrounded and attacked inside the vehicle. He described receiving injuries to multiple parts of his body during the assault and went to the hospital.
Manish Gowda and Samrat Vijay are students of RV University, so the incident involves students from the same educational institution.
Police are currently looking into the complaint and the circumstances of the alleged incident. There are some jurisdiction-related issues with the locations where the alleged incidents took place; police will have to weigh these up and take any further action and register it under the appropriate sections.
The allegations have not yet been established in court, and the accused will have an opportunity to respond to the claims. Police investigation will determine what happened at the first overtaking and the reason for the alleged assault the following day.
The incident has attracted attention as Samrat Vijay is the son of actor Duniya Vijay. However, the case is still being handled based on the complaint and the allegations of the injured student, and the police have not yet determined the sequence of events.
