A farmer’s daughter from Karnataka has reached a huge breakthrough by getting a job in the world’s best technology company. Srushti Manjunath Ullagaddi, one of the final-year Information Science Engineering students from Alva's Institute of Engineering and Technology (AIET) in Moodubidire, received a job offer from digital payments giant Visa with a pay equity of ₹8,000 per month in a job offer from this world class international technology company.
Srushti comes from a farming family in Hattimattur village of Haveri district. Her parents Manjunath and Sujatha are farmers who did their best to help her to pursue her education and dreams.
According to the details shared by the institution, the total value of the employment package and benefits offered to Srushti is ₹46.33 lakh per annum. It is the highest placement package ever given to a student in AIET. The achievement has brought pride not only to her family and college but to students from rural areas of Karnataka.
With her sixth semester she got an internship at Visa and she did a 10-week internship and took home a salary of ₹90,000 a month. She had an opportunity to learn in a very competitive technology sector.
Srushti impressively presented her technical skills, dedication and performance for the company during the internship. Visa gave her a Pre-Placement Offer (PPO) after a thorough evaluation process and many interviews. The PPO is generally awarded to candidates who perform best during the internship.
Visa’s compensation package on average is ₹35.58 lakh per year which makes it one of the most lucrative offers for engineering students in that region. In addition to the salary, the package includes a family medical insurance of ₹7.5 lakh, OPD medical assistance of ₹25,000, and educational assistance of ₹3 lakh. The company also offers employees a gym membership and office transportation and annual health check-up -thus taking the total package value to ₹46.33 lakh.
Srushti took the internship with the help of her and the support from her school and she was proud to have accomplished it. She said that the Visa internship raised her confidence and helped her get her dream job and had been very beneficial to get the job that she wanted.

Her success, he said, is “evidence that students from rural areas can rise to the top in the global technology sector if they are provided with the assistance of mentorship and opportunities.”
