Three people were seriously injured when a speeding car rammed into them at a petrol pump near Silver City on GT Road in Ghaziabad. The incident, which was reported to have been recorded on CCTV cameras at the petrol station, triggered police action against the driver.
According to the complaint filed by petrol pump manager Anurag Chaudhary, a group of youths arrived at the petrol pump in an intoxicated condition. The group arrived in a white Swift car and approached the fuel station to refuel.
The driver was allegedly instructed by a worker at the petrol pump to put the vehicle in the right place in the vicinity of the fuel dispenser and to refuel it safely. But instead of following the directions, the driver accelerated the car.
It moved forward quickly and hit people who were in front of the petrol pump at high speed. Three people were seriously injured, and at the petrol station, people rushed to help the victims who were hit, creating panic in the area.
The footage of the entire incident was recorded, it is said. The white Swift was seen moving towards the group before hitting them, an official said. One of the victims was thrown several feet into the air because of the force of the collision, highlighting the severity of the impact.
The victims were taken to the hospital for treatment, and their injuries were serious, the police said. Their identities and medical status will be revealed later on in the investigation.
