A major security alert was issued in Gurugram, Haryana on Friday after the Gurugram District Court and Mini Secretariat received bomb threat emails.
The threats triggered immediate evacuation procedures, intensive security checks, and the deployment of bomb disposal teams and police personnel.
According to officials, the threatening emails were received by the concerned authorities during working hours, leading to the rapid response from the district administration. The District Court premises and employees, visitors, advocates and litigants were evacuated as a precautionary measure. Similar safety measures were taken at the Mini Secretariat, where government offices are located.
Police, bomb detection and disposal squads (BDDS), dog squads and fire department officials rushed to both locations.
The premises were thoroughly searched to ensure everyone involved. Public access to the areas was also restricted during the searches, authorities said.
According to initial investigations, the threats were sent through email. Cyber experts have been sent to the scene to trace the origins of the messages and to identify the guilty people.
All aspects of the case are being examined, including if this threat was real or a hoax to trigger panic, officials said.
The incident did briefly disrupt court proceedings and government offices. Litigants waiting for hearings and citizens who were going to government offices were advised to stay outside until security clearance was given. Traffic around the affected areas was also controlled for emergency response vehicles.
Police officials stressed to the public to remain calm and to stop spreading unverified information on social media. Security protocols were activated immediately, they said, and there was no need for panic. Citizens should only get official updates on the situation, they said.
Bomb threats against public institutions have been increasing across India in recent years. Educational institutions, airports, hospitals, courts, and government offices have received anonymous threat emails.

Many of these cases eventually turn out to be hoaxes and hence they are investigated with the utmost seriousness to protect public safety.
As a result, security forces are still expanding their surveillance and cyber investigation capabilities to identify the individuals behind these events.
Even false bomb threats consume huge resources, disrupt the daily lives of citizens and create unnecessary fear among the public, says an expert from a bomb threats research group.
No explosive materials have been recovered from either the Gurugram District Court or the Mini Secretariat, they said.
The investigation would not end until all parts of the buildings are safe, officials added. There will also be cooperation with cybercrime units to track the email sender and find out why the threats continue, they said.
The district administration has assured the public that there are sufficient security measures in place and normal operations will resume once the premises have been cleared by security agencies.
