The CET is starting now and can be considered as an important step towards entry to professional subjects in Karnataka, such as engineering, agriculture and veterinary sciences, by prospective students in Karnataka.
More than 3,30,000 students registered this year, as competition for professional education in Karnataka becomes increasingly fierce. The CET of 1,86,099 women and 1,44,380 men was entered by 3,30,479 women and 1,44,380 men, out of these being female and male, respectively. Bengaluru alone represents a large proportion, with a total of 77,604 candidates taking the exam at 163 locations in the city.
Dress Code Officers First On the Run
In a first-of-its-kind effort, KEA has hired 745 Dress Code Officers, the former of whom work to ensure uniformity of conduct across all examination centres to facilitate consistency and prevent confusion about how the dress codes are to be applied. The aim is to simplify the entry pathway and reduce last-minute issues for students.
Important Guides for Students
The decision authority to enforce the strict dress code and exam requirements:
- Dress Code: Semi-sleeve attire for candidates. Preference is given to no-collared outfits.
- Boys: Kurta-pyjama, jeans, and shoes prohibited. The students are encouraged to wear basic pants with little in the way of pockets.
- Items that may not be Used In: Electronic devices, including cell phones, Bluetooth and earphones, are not allowed inside examination halls. Officials have said that candidates should comply closely with the guidelines, they will be denied entrance.
Exam Schedule
The CET will take place over multiple days with subject-specific scheduling.
- April 22: Kannada language test to all border and out-of-state candidates at the Kannada selection centres, such as Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Vijayapura and Belagavi.
- April 23: Physics (morning session) and Chemistry (afternoon session).
- April 24: Biology (morning session) and Mathematics (afternoon session).
Implementing High-Tech Security Measures
KEA has also put more security measures in place to keep a fair and transparent examination. Every 745 examination centre across the state has CCTV cameras. The whole process is being tracked through a live webcasting service through KEA’s main office in Malleswaram, Bengaluru, under the observation of the company headquarters in Bengaluru.
The District level officials were given the tasks, including Deputy Commissioners, and have been appointed to monitor the exam on a regional basis. The above measures are in an attempt to prevent malpractice and to uphold the integrity of the examination.
Advisory for Candidates
Before attending the examination, there is some guidance offered by the KEA website regarding the necessity for students to read through the guidelines clearly and thoroughly. Candidates should also be advised to get to their exam centres well in advance to help them avoid panic at the last minute.
CET 2026 is one of the most competitive entrance examinations in state history, and with lakhs of students vying for narrow seats, it will prove a bitter challenge. Smooth administration of such an examination will be decisive for establishing fairness and equal opportunity for all students who seek admission.
