Karnataka is in a solid winter right now, but having very dry weather means that the early morning temperatures are all too low for most of the population. The latest bulletin by the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) stated that the state is anticipated to face an extension of these dry spells in all major geographic zones, South Interior, North Interior and Coastal.
The Dry Weather Trend
Despite some isolated drizzles reported in a select few pockets last week, there have been very low levels of moisture. IMD estimates rain is not anticipated for the next 24 to 48 hours.
- South Interior Karnataka - Major districts like Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Ballari, Chikkaballapur, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Kolar, Mandya, Ramanagara will have dry winds and clear skies. Conditions in these areas will be similar to those to which the Malnad buffer zones of Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, Hassan, and Kodagu are susceptible in their later stages.
- North Interior Karnataka: The arid stretch from Belagavi, Bidar, Vijayapura, Bagalkote, Haveri, Gadag, Dharwad, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Raichur and Yadgiri also experience extreme dry weather. Without cloud, these areas show clear-and-night sharp contrast between times of day.
- Coastal Region: The coastal belt, consisting of Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Uttara Kannada, is devoid of any major weather systems, leading to sustained dry weather along the Arabian Sea coast.
Brimming With Shivering Mornings:
Bengaluru. The state capital, Bengaluru, is feeling the pinch of the winter chill more than usual. Residents are waking up to heavy thick blankets of fog and mist, particularly around open space and the outskirts of the city. In this example, the IMD for Bengaluru has forecast a highest temperature of 28°C and a lowest temperature of 15°C today. The fog has slightly disturbed the visibility on highways and close to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) during early morning hours, thus, causing traffic to drag during the morning. As the day goes on, the sun stays bright — but the air is still crisp, cold, crisp.
Health Advisory:
How to Protect Against the Cold. After dropping to 15°C over the past day and with dry winds dominating, health experts and doctors have said that seasonal advice. The sudden shift from afternoon warmth to evening chill can weaken the immune system and result in an increase in these kinds of infections: viral infections, common cold viruses and even respiratory infections.
Doctors Recommend:
- Warm Clothing: Wearing a number of layers, especially during the early hours of the day and night at work, helps ward off colds.
- Hydration: Keep your skin and throat hydrated even if you do not feel thirsty because of the cold, and have ample water in order to keep fresh.
- Diet: Eat hot, freshly prepared hot meals. You can build immunity naturally with what you eat ginger, pepper, and turmeric.
Keep moisturizers on top of your skin (prevention of cracking of the cracked skin, mainly due to the dry weather; Dry Humid conditions).
According to meteorologists, this dry weather pattern of the year should remain for a week. Absent low-pressure systems developing in both the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea, the "Winter Dryness" will remain prevalent in the Karnataka landscape as farmers and citizens await any signs of moisture during the unseason.
