A road accident in Kerala’s Thrissur district has claimed the lives of three people after a speeding car crashed into them on the Guruvayur-Kunnamkulam road just after midnight on Saturday.
The deceased were Muneer, 35, his wife Safna, 25, and their three-year-old son Yamil Aibak. The family was returning home after attending a wedding reception when the accident happened, police said.
According to preliminary information, the family was riding on a motorcycle when they stopped on the roadside to attend to a phone call. As they were standing near their parked motorcycle, a car going in the same direction approached at high speed and lost control.
Then the vehicle crashed into the family, and all three were seriously injured.
Family Returning Home after Wedding Reception
Muneer, Safna, and their young son had earlier attended a wedding reception before starting their journey back home. Their return journey took a tragic turn when they stopped along the busy Guruvayur-Kunnamkulam road to take a phone call.
The family had parked their motorcycle on the side of the road when the speeding car struck them.
The impact left the three victims seriously injured. People in the area and others who had seen the accident ran to help, and arrangements were made to transport the injured family members to nearby private hospitals.
Despite receiving medical attention, none of the three victims could be saved.
Three-Year-Old Child Among Victims
The death of three-year-old Yamil Aibak is a tragedy in itself. The child was travelling with his parents when the speeding vehicle crashed into them.
The deaths of the young family have sent shockwaves through the local community. Family members and friends are grieving, and authorities are continuing to gather information about the circumstances surrounding the collision.
The accident also underscores the dangers faced by drivers as well as pedestrians on busy roads at night and in heavy traffic when cars can go extremely fast.

Police Probe Underway
The accident is under investigation, and officials will investigate the reason why the car crashed.
The fact that the car was moving in the same direction as the motorcycle will also be part of the investigation as authorities work to establish exactly how the driver lost control.
Details of the driver and the vehicle involved will come out as the investigation goes on.
Road Safety Concerns
The accident has once again raised concerns about speeding and road safety in Kerala. Busy roads linking major cities and pilgrimage and tourist destinations have seen heavy traffic at all times, even at night.
There has been a growing emphasis from road safety professionals on the need to maintain safe speeds, particularly on roads where motorcycles, pedestrians, and other vulnerable road users are present.
The tragedy also serves as a reminder for motorists to remain alert and maintain adequate control of their vehicles, especially during late-night journeys.
The deaths of Muneer, Safna, and their young son Yamil Aibak have left their family and community grieving. What began as a normal journey home after a family event led to a tragedy that took three lives.
